  • Patent number: 11185891
Abstract: An approach is provided for performing sorting of physical mail items using Augmented Reality (A/R) glasses. A/R glasses acquire an image of a physical mail item to be sorted and generate image data that represents the image. A unique value is generated for the image, for example, by processing the image data for the image using one or more hash functions to generate a hash value. The hash value is used to obtain sorting information for the mail item from a mail item manager. The A/R glasses use the sorting information to assist the user in sorting the mail item by displaying the name of a sort location for the mail item, visually distinguishing the sort location from other sort locations, displaying information about the mail item, providing “out of view” assistance, etc. The A/R glasses may allow the user to override the sort location specified for the mail item and override information is sent to the mail item manager.

  • Patent number: 10926147
Abstract: An apparatus and method for swim training are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a cable is secure to a starting block or other fixed object at or near the edge of a pool, and the cable is then extended into the pool. The cable includes, along its length, fixed securement points to which multiple swimmers may be secured, via belts worn by the swimmers, to the cable. Because the swimmers are secured to fixed positions along the cable, multiple swimmers may swim in the same lane without interfering with each other. In another embodiment, the cable may be secured at both ends of the pool.

  • Patent number: 8424721
Abstract: A packaged product and a method for monitoring usage in a consumer test is reported herein. The packaged product includes a bottle having a container body with an open end and a closed end, the open end being formed with a neck and a mouth at a terminus of the neck. A flowable material is held within the container body. A monitoring unit immersed at least partially within the flowable material includes: (1) at least one support rod, the rod contacting the neck thereby inhibiting movement of the monitoring unit; (2) a logger device to sense and record motion of the bottle, the device including a circuit board fitted with at least one computer chip; (3) a retention unit arranged on the support rod inhibiting travel of the logger device relative to the support rod. According to the method of the invention, compliance to a test protocol can be certified through records extracted from the logger unit after evaluation is completed by the consumer.

  • Patent number: 6880642
Abstract: A method and apparatus of plugging and abandoning a well includes using a plug apparatus and installing bentonite elements in an oil well production casing having a bore. The plug apparatus is lowered into the production casing bore to a selected elevation using a slick line or the like. The apparatus has a tool body and slip dies that are movably mounted upon the tool body to move between extended and retracted positions. Afer the tool body is positioned at a selected location within the casing bore, tension is applied to the slick line to move the slip dies to an extended position wherein the slip dies engage the casing and secure the tool body in a desired location. The casing bore is then displaced with water above the tool body. Bentonite elements are then dumped into the water filled wellbore. The bentonite elements are allowed to swell to form a plug. The tool body can be retrieved from the casing bore if desired.
