  • Publication number: 20190043517
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for selecting, for communicating, between signals provided by various pickups on the basis of a calculated signal to noise ratio (SNR) are disclosed. The various pickups may include a microphone and a vibration sensor. Signals from the microphone may be compared with signals from the vibration sensor by extracting a root-mean-square (RMS) profile for each, and comparing the RMS profiles to determine an SNR estimate for the microphone signal. The microphone signal may be selected if the SNR estimate is below a predetermined threshold, otherwise the vibration sensor signal may be selected. The vibration sensor signal may be subject to further processing if selected to approximate the microphone signal.

  • Publication number: 20190043524
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for transforming a signal from a vibration sensor into an approximation of a signal from a microphone are disclosed. The vibration sensor signal may be transformed by first obtaining a smooth average spectrum and corresponding deviation data for the vibration sensor signal. The smooth average spectrum may be passed through a mapping neural network to obtain a transformed smooth average spectrum that approximates a smooth average spectrum that would be obtained from a microphone. The transformed signal is then obtained by recombining the transformed smooth average spectrum with the deviation data.

  • Publication number: 20190035404
Abstract: A system, method, apparatus and computer readable medium for hierarchical speech recognition resolution. The method of hierarchical speech recognition resolution on a platform includes receiving a speech stream from a microphone. The speech stream is resolved using a lowest possible level automatic speech recognition (ASR) engine of multi-level ASR engines. The selection of the lowest possible level ASR engine is based on policies defined for the platform. If resolution of the speech stream is rated less than a predetermined confidence level, the resolution of the speech stream is pushed to a next higher-level ASR engine of the multi-level ASR engines until the resolution of the speech stream meets the predetermined confidence level without violating one or more policies.

  • Patent number: 10116922
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods, devices, and non-transitory computer readable media that relate to stereoscopic image creation. A camera captures an initial image at an initial position. A target displacement from the initial position is determined for a desired stereoscopic effect, and an instruction is provided that specifies a direction in which to move the camera from the initial position. While the camera is in motion, an estimated displacement from the initial position is calculated. When the estimated displacement corresponds to the target displacement, the camera automatically captures a candidate image. An acceptability analysis is performed to determine whether the candidate image has acceptable image quality and acceptable similarity to the initial image. If the candidate image passes the acceptability analysis, a stereoscopic image is created based on the initial and candidate images.

  • Publication number: 20180292471
Abstract: A technology is described for detecting a mechanical device. An example method may include retrieving magnetometer data generated by a magnetometer coupled to a mobile device. Magnetic features may be extracted from the magnetometer data, where the magnetometer data may be associated with magnetic field distortion patterns generated by mechanical motions of a mechanical device. Accelerometer data generated by an accelerometer coupled to the mobile device may be retrieved. Acceleration features associated with vibration patterns generated by the mechanical motions of the mechanical device may be extracted from the accelerometer data. Thereafter, the mechanical device may be identified using the magnetic features and the acceleration features.

  • Patent number: 10037335
Abstract: Methods and systems related to the detection of 3-D video content are disclosed herein. Specifically, a video image file may be analyzed in order to determine if it contains 3-D stereoscopic video content. An assumption is made regarding the possible 3-D format of the video image file. The assumption could be that the video frame includes a left portion and a right portion where each portion contains respective stereoscopic image perspectives. Image analysis algorithms could be used to determine if the left and right portions are sufficiently similar to confirm the assumption. If so, an indication could be carried out that could include a change to metadata or a similar change to associated video image file information. If the left and right portions of the video frame are not sufficiently similar, another analysis may be performed to test a different 3-D file format assumption.
