  • Publication number: 20060067593
Abstract: Techniques for an iterative design process of determining a visual representation for an input media object are provided. One or more visual representations are determined from the input media object based on a set of encoding parameters. An output media object is then created from the one or more visual representations based on a set of decoding parameters. The one or more visual representations and/or the second media object may be displayed to a user. An indication indicating whether one or more visual representations and/or the second media object is acceptable or unacceptable is then received. If the one or more visual representations and/or the second media object is not acceptable, then at least one parameter in at least one of the set of encoding parameters and the set of decoding parameters may be changed. The process described above is then repeated until the one or more visual representations and the second media object is determined to be acceptable.

  • Publication number: 20060070006
Abstract: Techniques for creating an output media object based on a first visual representation and a second visual representation are provided. A first visual representation is received. The first visual representation is generated based on first information determined from an input media object. A second visual representation is also received. The second visual representation is generated based on second information determined from the input media object. An output media object is then created based on the first visual representation and a second visual representation. The output media object may then be outputted or played on a device.

  • Publication number: 20060041542
Abstract: According to the invention, a visitor kiosk for the capture and storage of personal information about visitors. The visitor kiosk is placed at the entry point to a facility being monitored. Each visitor signs in at the kiosk. Their business card and an image of their face are scanned. If they do not have a business card, their name and company are entered manually. They also enter the name of the person they are visiting and the purpose for their visit. The person they are visiting is notified of the arrival of the visitor by email or by voice telephone. The data about the visitor is stored locally or remotely. Automatic lookups of various information about the visitor are performed and communicated to the person being visited. A network interface allows users to enter information about visitors they are expecting to arrive. A telephone interface is provided for input of voice greetings as well as checking on the arrival status of visitors.

  • Publication number: 20050256857
Abstract: An apparatus and method for determining if a query document matches one or more of a plurality of documents in a database. In a coarse matching stage, a compressed file or other query document is scanned to produce a bit profile. Global statistics such as line spacing and text height are calculated from the bit profile and used to narrow the field of documents to be searched in an image database. The bit profile is cross-correlated with bit profiles of documents in the search space to identify candidates for a detailed matching stage. If multiple candidates are generated in the coarse matching stage, a set of endpoint features is extracted from the query document for detailed matching in the detailed matching stage. Endpoint features contain sufficient information for various levels of processing, including page skew and orientation estimation.

  • Publication number: 20050231739
Abstract: A combined projector/printer that can receive data in a printer format or a projector format, and then either generate a displayable image, a printed document or both. In the case that the input data is not in a video format but rather in a print format, the projector system is further capable of converting the print format data to image data and to render the image data on a digital display. The print format to image data conversion is provided by a coder/decoder. The combined projector/printer system is capable of displaying an image, printing an image, or recording a presentation according to the needs of the user. The present invention also includes a variety of methods for performing the functionality of the present invention including a “print-to-display” method.

  • Publication number: 20050223309
Abstract: A multimedia projector/printer system capable of displaying, printing, and controlling all multimedia content associated with a multi-media document. The multimedia projector/printer has a multimedia image generator. A print driver interface is provided that allows users to “print” a multimedia document to the projector. The multimedia driver embeds instructions and codes within a document that are retrieved and removed before the projector produces an image. The instructions and codes indicate multimedia data to be fetched over the network. The multimedia projector/printer also provides the option to display multimedia data regardless of the software application from which created it.
