  • Patent number: 8911582
Abstract: An apparatus to facilitate the application of a micro-contact printing stamp to a roll. The apparatus preferentially constrains some of the stamp's six degrees of freedom, and then drives the stamp (or the assembly of the stamp and the master against which it was formed) into controlled contact with the printing roll so as to attach the stamp onto the outer surface of the roll.

  • Publication number: 20140254770
Abstract: An apparatus for calibrating an x-ray computed tomography device has a plurality of objects formed from a material that is visible to x-rays, and a base at least in part fixedly supporting the plurality of objects so that each of the plurality of objects contacts at least one of the other objects. Each one of the plurality of objects: 1) is configured to receive x-rays without changing shape, 2) has substantially the same shape and size as the other objects, 3) has an attenuation value to x-rays (“object attenuation value”), and 4) is symmetrically shaped relative to its center point. Like the objects, the base also has an attenuation value to x-rays (the “base attenuation value”). The object attenuation value is greater than the base attenuation . Each of the plurality of objects is kinematically locked in place on the base.

  • Publication number: 20140234553
Abstract: A method for making an optical assembly is disclosed. The method involves disposing a liquid optically clear composition with a coating head. The liquid optically clear composition is disposed onto a target substrate to form an optically clear adhesive layer for adhering elements in an optical assembly. The optical assembly includes a display panel bonded to another optical component and may be used in a display device.

  • Publication number: 20140217966
Abstract: Provided are a method and apparatus and method for the alignment, verification and optimization of wireless charging systems manufactured for use and used with electric vehicles. With some minimal modifications the same apparatus may be used to align a charging coil mounted on a vehicle with a charging coil, mounted on or in an electric vehicle charging bay or parking space, or to verify and optimize manufactured wireless vehicle charging system elements before they are installed.

  • Patent number: 8794150
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for micro-contact printing on a substrate. A roll having very low drag is supported for rotation by air bearings and has a micro-contact printing stamp mounted to its outer surface. Contact between the substrate and the micro-contact printing stamp drives the roll and repeatedly imprints the pattern onto the web. In convenient embodiments, the roll is a sleeve positioned over a core with the sleeve supported for rotation by a layer of air between the sleeve and the core.

  • Publication number: 20140110879
Abstract: A method of preparing a patterned micro-contact printing stamp for micro contact printing including the making of a submaster of e.g. epoxy, against which a micro-contact printing stamp from polydimethylsiloxane or other stamp forming material can be formed. The micro-contact printing stamp can then be exposed to an inking material while the micro-contact printing stamp is still against the submaster, resulting in a micro-contact printing stamp capable of making numerous impressions before the inking material is exhausted.

  • Publication number: 20130030773
Abstract: Coordinate measurement data such as point cloud data associated with coordinate measurement machine data is reduced in a strategic and systematic manner by segmenting and/or reducing data based on nominal geometric information contained in an electronic file such as a CAD model or a coordinate measurement machine inspection plan. For example, in one embodiment, a software application is used to identify geometric features and tolerances within a CAD model of an object, and to segment coordinate measurement data of a physical object based on the identified geometric features and tolerances from the CAD model. The various segments of coordinate measurement data may be assigned different data requirements, and the data may be reduced in different manners on a feature-by-feature basis.

  • Publication number: 20120247355
Abstract: An apparatus and method for microcontact printing are described. The microcontact printing apparatus includes a planar stamp and a pressurized roller. The pressurized roller includes an inflatable bladder that can be inflated by a fluid to a pressure that reduces printing defects such as voids and stamp collapse. A substrate is disposed between the pressurized roller and a stamp coated with an ink of functionalizing molecules. As the pressurized roller moves over the substrate, at least a portion of the functionalizing molecules are transferred from the stamp to the substrate in the desired pattern.
