The method includes connecting a memory storage device to the electronic cutter and selecting a shape to be cut, the shape being selected from a set of shapes stored on the memory storage device. The method also includes displaying the shape on a graphical display, receiving an indication from a user to cut the shape displayed in the graphical display, and cutting the shape in the sheet.

Abstract: A method of cutting using an electronic paper cutting machine includes receiving a signal that a sheet of paper has been loaded; receiving a size of the sheet of paper, receiving at least one shape to be cut, receiving a size of the at least one shape to be cut, calculating the size of the shape relative to the size of the paper, determining whether the shape to be cut will fit within the sheet of paper, displaying an error message if the shape will not fit on the sheet and cutting the desired shape if the shape will fit on the sheet.
