  • Patent number: 10728397
Abstract: A telecommunication service provider agrees to a prepaid plan including phone, text and data services, which it provides to a user through a mobile device of the user. A computing system of the telecommunication service provider can send a notification to the user's mobile device that refers to benefits and contains a launch prompt. When the launch prompt is selected by the user, an application program is automatically launched in the mobile device, or a browser in the mobile device is automatically navigated to a website, which prompts the user to identify herself using personal information. In response, the computing system can signal the mobile device to display to the user an offer of i) a pre-bundled group of, or ii) an individually selectable variety of, products or services.

  • Publication number: 20200228779
Abstract: Technologies are provided to generate digital content for reproduction in mobile devices. The digital content can be provided in a memory card that includes a non-volatile memory device and processing circuitry. The digital content can be generated using a combination of source digital content accessed from a storage assembly and at least one of reproduction information or production configuration information. The reproduction information conveys one or multiple configurations for playback of the source digital content. The production configuration information conveys one or multiple satisfactory configurations for content reproduction at a mobile device. The digital content is formatted according to a defined video format and includes 3D content. In some instances, the digital content also can include 4D content, which includes 3D content and information for controlling haptic effects related to the 3D content. • Publication number: 20200226376
Abstract: Identification and access control using a wearable token are provided. In some embodiments, a mobile device can initiate execution of an application that presents an instruction to acquire an image of a wearable token. As part of execution of the application, the mobile device can acquire the image of the wearable token via a camera module included in the mobile device. In some instances, the mobile device can detect defined markings on the image of the wearable token. A first marking of the defined markings can have specific semantics and a second marking of the defined markings can encode an identity linked to the wearable token. In response to at least the first marking, the mobile device can direct an access control apparatus to perform a defined operation. In response to the second marking the mobile device can direct the display device to present the identity.

  • Publication number: 20200226407
Abstract: Delivery of digital content based on an image of an object is provided. The digital content can be customized based at least on the object and can include a media asset, such as a still image, an animation, an audio segment, or a video segment. In some embodiments, a computing system can deliver the digital content. To that end, the computing system can receive imaging data from a mobile device. The imaging data represents an image of the object. The mobile device can generate the imaging data in response to execution of an application that permits consuming the digital content. The computing system can detect defined markings on the image, where a first marking of the defined markings has specific semantics. The computing system can select customized digital content based at least on the first marking, and can send the customized digital content to the mobile device.

  • Publication number: 20200027106
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to sweepstakes campaign system wherein consumers are given a clue to find a consumer good in a retail store. The consumer locates the good and places the good within the field of view of a camera of a mobile device or takes a picture of the good with the camera on the mobile device. The mobile device or a server can extract an object from the field of view or from the image and determine if the extracted object is a good and determine whether the good is correct. If the consumer has located the correct good, the consumer will be provided with the next reward clue and either a message or a good clue. The sweepstakes campaign can conclude with one or more winners being provided the location(s) or method of obtaining a reward.

  • Publication number: 20190132629
Abstract: A method performed by a processor in an entertainment device that is executing an application program that provides content of artists. The method performs a digital image processing currency recognition algorithm upon an image that has been captured by a camera in the device, to indicate a detected currency, where the algorithm is configured to detect several different currencies from digital images of coinage or paper money of the different currencies. The method performs a table lookup using the detected currency, into a data structure stored in the device. The data structure associates the different currencies with several descriptions of content, respectively, where each content is distributed through a country from which the associated currency is issued. Upon selecting one of the descriptions of content, the method requests that a notification that refers to the selected description be presented for display through a touch screen of the device.

  • Publication number: 20180300577
Abstract: A method performed by a programmed processor in a portable electronic device that is executing an artist-centric application program stored in the device. The method analyses an object captured in an image to detect a structural pattern and compares the structural pattern with several predefined structural patterns to identify a matching predefined structural pattern, where each predefined structural pattern is associated with a piece of specially licensed content of an artist. Upon identifying a matching predefined structural pattern, the method presents, on a display screen of the portable electronic device, a notification with an option to purchase a particular piece of specially licensed content of the artist that is associated with the matching predefined structural pattern. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 9986395
Abstract: A telecommunications service provider agrees to a pre-paid plan including phone, text and data services, which it provides to a user through her mobile device. The provider's computer system then sends a notification to the user's mobile device that refers to benefits and contains a launch prompt. When the launch prompt is selected by the user, an application program is automatically launched in the mobile device, or a browser in the mobile device is automatically navigated to a website, which prompts the user to identify herself using minimum personal information (e.g., first and last name, date of birth and postal code.) In response, the mobile device is then signaled by the computer system of the telecommunications service provider to display to the user an offer of i) a pre-bundled group of, or ii) an individually selectable variety of, products or services (the benefits.) Other embodiments are also described.

  • Publication number: 20070288715
Abstract: Content is provided on a medium or is transmitted, for example streamed, with in built protection against unauthorised playback or copying. Video content data is provided in content blocks, each of which relates to a video frame and has a corresponding header. Some content clocks have a digital fingerprint interposed somewhere in the data comprising that content block. Thus, the amount of the data in the content block is increased by the addition of the digital fingerprint. Information identifying the length of the content block in the corresponding header is not altered. Some or all content blocks are obfuscated following the additional of the digital fingerprints. In a media player, de-obfuscation is performed, and digital fingerprints then removed before the resulting content blocks are decoded. Whilst listening to music streamed to a mobile terminal, a user can purchase the track currently being played.

  • Publication number: 20060195909
Abstract: Content is provided on a medium or is transmitted, for example streamed, with in-built protection against unauthorised playback or copying. Video content data is provided in content blocks, each of which relates to a video frame and has a corresponding header. Some content clocks have an excess data item, such as a digital fingerprint, interposed somewhere in the data comprising that content block. Without de-obfuscation and removal of the digital fingerprints, correct decoding would not occur.

  • Publication number: 20050276572
Abstract: An automated extraction configuration module 16 examines metadata stored on a DVD 15 to determine the configuration of content data stored on it. Extraction configuration data from a memory area 17 is utilised by a DVD decryption and extraction module 18 to extract movie data from the DVD 15, which is written as AVI data to an intermediate format movie data area 14. A mobile format conversion module 19 converts movie data stored in the extracted movie data area 14 and provides a movie in mobile telephone consumable format in a mobile format movie data area 20. The mobile format conversion module 19 utilises a digital rights management (DRM) processing module 21. The conversion uses information specific to the configuration of, and thus is tailored to, a target device. The data also includes two or more media players and a loader program. The mobile device is controlled to run the loader program initially.
