  • Patent number: 11950685
Abstract: A method for forming a textile strap and the resulting textile strap includes forming a textile matrix by stacking in alternating order at least one first material layer on at least one second material layer. The at least one first material layer is bonded to the at least one second material layer in a manner to fix the at least one first material layer to the at least one second material layer. A plurality of apertures are cut into the formed textile matrix. The apertures are cut in from an edge of the textile matrix inward such that the resulting textile matrix with defined apertures is predictably flexible in each of two directions. The resulting textile matrix with defined apertures is sheathed in a formed stretch outer layer configured to substantially enclose the resulting textile matrix with defined apertures. The stretch outer layer is bonded to the textile matrix.

  • Publication number: 20230372126
Abstract: Textile assemblies may be incorporated into a textile strap and include a stretch textile substrate and a patterned textile laminate. The textile substrate has a width extending from a first edge to a second edge. The patterned textile laminate is non-stretch or low-stretch, and coupled to the stretch textile substrate. The patterned textile laminate has a plurality of holes formed therethrough, configured to enhance breathability of the textile assembly. A span of the patterned textile laminate has a plurality of gaps formed therethrough to create a gradient of flexibility and compliance within the span of the patterned textile laminate, such that the stretch of the textile assembly varies along a continuum across the width of the textile assembly. Straps and/or harnesses of various uses may incorporate such textile assemblies, including harnesses for supporting prosthetic limbs, climbing and safety harnesses, and military or policy duty belts.

  • Publication number: 20230255803
Abstract: A prosthetic device for engaging a residual limb includes a plurality of elongate counters configured to receive at least a portion of the residual limb within a volume defined by the plurality of elongate counters. Each respective elongate counter is configured to counteract forces applied to the residual limb via the prosthetic device. The prosthetic device also includes a socket and a selective adjustment system, and may include an independent counter engaged with the socket. The socket is configured to engage with the residual limb, and may include a lower textile socket coupled to the plurality of elongate counters and an upper textile socket coupled to the lower textile socket. The selective adjustment system is configured to secure the prosthetic device to the residual limb and to provide selective adjustment of compression of the socket and the plurality of elongate counters around the residual limb.

  • Patent number: 11672678
Abstract: A socket for engaging a residual limb includes a plurality of hard counters, each configured to engage the residual limb at defined “go points”. The go points can bear pressure without discomfort or impeding range of motion. The counters are further configured to avoid contact with identified “no go” points where excess tissue may inhibit motion or experience irritation upon movement and which include one or more contoured pads to more effectively engage the bony prominences of the limb without inhibiting motion. A chassis from which each of the counters may flexibly depend connects the residual limb mechanically to a limb extension. A lacing system alternately intersects the counters and terminates in a tensioning reel. Rotation of the tensioning reel in a first direction will draw the laces over each of the counters such that the tensioned laces will draw counters together to engage the residual limb.

  • Patent number: 8920519
Abstract: A prosthetic terminal device includes a wrist interface portion, a passive element and an active element. The passive element includes at least two finger-like projections extending from a base in a direction substantially away from the wrist interface portion. The passive element is fixed in relation to the wrist interface portion. The active element is configured to be positioned relative to the passive element and the wrist interface portion to achieve a plurality of grasp positions of the prosthetic terminal device based on one dimension of closure control of the active element in combination with a plurality of different fixable orientation positions of the active element. Each of the different fixable orientation positions is associated with at least one grasp position and at least one of the fixable orientation positions is associated with at least two grasp positions.
