Publication number: 20230187686Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus related to thermal energy storage with phase change materials having an adjustable transition temperature. In one aspect, a method includes providing a device. The devices includes a phase change material, a salt dissolved in the phase change material, and an anode and a cathode disposed in the phase change material. The phase change material changes from a solid to a liquid at a first temperature when the salt is dissolved in the phase change material. A voltage is applied to the anode and the cathode to substantially remove the salt from the phase change material. The phase change material changes from the solid to the liquid at a second temperature when the salt is substantially removed from the phase change material, with the first temperature being a lower temperature than the second temperature.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 30, 2022Publication date: June 15, 2023Inventors: Ravi Prasher, Sumanjeet Kaur, Gao Liu, Christopher Dames, Jonathan Lau, Drew Lilley, Piyachai Khomein, Joseph Papp

Publication number: 20220236002Abstract: A storage and dispensing system for storing and dispensing temperature sensitive items is provided. The system includes a storage chamber, a dispensing chamber, an electro-mechanical module, and a cooling system. The storage chamber has walls defining plural compartments formed integrally therein for storing the temperature sensitive items at an ultra-low temperature. Each compartment is formed as a cylindrical sector with an inclined bottom surface. The plural compartments are arranged circumferentially around a vertical axis and stacked together in one or more rows, thereby an individual temperature sensitive item is slidable out of a respective compartment to the dispensing chamber by gravitational force. The electro-mechanical module is configured to rotate the storage chamber about the vertical axis. The storage chamber does not include any mechanical or electrical components inside, which avoids the need for devices that can tolerate an extremely low temperature environment.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 22, 2021Publication date: July 28, 2022Inventors: Kwan Chung Jonathan LAU, Jun CHEN

Patent number: 9634315Abstract: An anode or negative electrode having a material matrix of carbon, graphene and an active element such as silicon or tin is described. The electrode is fabricated from an electrode slurry that does not utilize an organic binder. The electrode slurry comprises a combination of silicon and graphene oxide suspensions that is applied to a surface of a substrate such as a current collector. The layer of electrode slurry is heat treated to ensure adhesion of the layer of active electrode material to the surface of the current collector. The electrode may be incorporated within a lithium ion electrochemical cell.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 2015Date of Patent: April 25, 2017Assignee: SINODE SYSTEMS, INC.Inventors: Cary Michael Hayner, Saad Hasan, Joshua Jonathan Lau, Christine A. Frysz, Peter Jefferies Santos

Patent number: 6947947Abstract: A method for adding labels to data, for example XML compliant or XBRL compliant labels, includes a) identifying data in an electronically represented file, b) selecting labels that correspond to text strings in the identified data, based on a list associating labels with text strings, and c) adding the selected labels into the electronically represented file to label the text strings and elements in the identified data associated with the text strings. The labels include information about the data and are defined in one or more taxonomies. When the list does not associate a label with the text string, a user can be prompted to select a label corresponding to a text string in the identified data. The association indicated by the user's selection, can then be added to the list associating labels with text strings.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 2002Date of Patent: September 20, 2005Assignee: Universal Business Matrix LLCInventors: Robert S.
