Abstract: A dental implant assembly for mounting a tooth replacement into a patient's jawbone, which includes a body member, a pair of wing or blade-shaped members movably coupled to the body member for movement from a retracted position to an extended position, and an implant head releasably coupled to the body member. The blade-shaped members have a cutting edge for cutting into the patient's jawbone to anchor the body member to resist both lateral and rotational movements caused by the patient chewing or grinding his or her teeth. The dental implant assembly may optionally include an extension member, a collar member, or both.
