  • Patent number: 10139901
Abstract: A method and apparatus for tracking distractions in a virtual reality environment is provided. In an embodiment, data identifying an area of interest is stored with a particular virtual reality application on a client computing device. The client computing device tracks a point of focus during execution of the application on the client computing device. In response to determining that the point of focus differs from the area of interest, the client computing device executes an application event.

  • Patent number: 9946337
Abstract: A method and apparatus for utilizing an inertial measurement unit and one or more additional sensors on a head mounted display is provided. In an embodiment, a head mounted display system sends inertial measurement unit data and head mounted display removal data to a tracking computing device. The tracking computing device identifies a time of removal of the head mounted display from the head of the user and stores a portion of the inertial measurement unit data corresponding to the time of removal of the head mounted display from the head of the user. Based on the stored portion of the inertial measurement unit data, the tracking computing device determines a state of the user of the head mounted display system at the time of removal.

  • Publication number: 20170301142
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transitioning from a digital graphical environment to an application download environment is provided. In an embodiment, a digital graphical application executes on a client computing device. A request is received to download additional content at a future time. The client computing device makes a determination that the digital graphical application has been terminated. In response to determining that the application has been terminated, the client computing device displays a notification for downloading additional content. Upon receiving a selection of the notification, the client computing device sends a request to a marketplace application to cause the client computing device to download the additional content.

  • Publication number: 20170206708
Abstract: A method and apparatus for displaying content in a virtual reality environment is provided. In an embodiment, design data for a particular application is received by a virtual reality content management system. The virtual reality generator uses the design data to generate a virtual reality environment for displaying content. The virtual reality generator additionally receives content to input into a virtual reality environment. While executing the particular application, a client computing device sends a request to the virtual reality content management system for content to display. The virtual reality generator causes displaying, on the client computing device, the virtual reality environment with the received content.
