  • Publication number: 20070094490
Abstract: The invention consists of a first communications device on which an active session is taking place and a second communications device that is not involved in the active session. When a transfer of the session from the first communications device to the second communications device is desired, the handoff is triggered either automatically or manually. The first communications device sends a transfer initiation message to the second communications device. An acknowledgement message is sent from the second communications device to the first communications device. The second communications device, upon receipt of the address information, sends a server transfer message to the session server. The session server, in response to the server transfer message, routes new content to the identified second communications device.

  • Publication number: 20060120308
Abstract: A visual interface for a PTT user terminal displays user images of participants in a PTT conference. When a PTT conference is established, a controller determines whether an image associated with each participant invited to the PTT conference is stored in memory on the user terminal. For each participant that has an associated image stored on the user terminal, the controller displays the image. For those participants that do not have an associated image stored on the user terminal, the controller generates and sends a request for the image. Upon receipt of the image, the controller displays the image on the user terminal. During the PTT conference, the controller alters the appearance of the images to show the status information of each participant, such as which participant has floor control and presence of participants.

  • Publication number: 20060084456
Abstract: A system and method of creating a temporary site dependent push-to-talk/media (PTT/M) group for allowing PTT/M communications among a visiting PTT/M equipped mobile device and site based PTT/M equipped devices while the visiting PTT/M equipped mobile device is on-site. An on-site device is responsible for detecting when a visiting PTT/M equipped mobile device comes on-site and initiating a registration process. The registration process registers the visiting PTT/M equipped mobile device with the site based PTT/M equipped devices and the site based PTT/M equipped devices with the visiting PTT/M equipped mobile device such that normal group PTT/M communications can take place. When the visiting PTT/M equipped device leaves the site its absence is detected and a de-registration process is initiated. De-registration removes the recently added device IDs from the site's PTT/M network server and the visiting mobile's PTT/M network server.

  • Publication number: 20060052063
Abstract: A method and apparatus for changing the appearance of a mobile device is described herein. According to the present invention, at least a portion of a housing of an exemplary mobile device comprises a soft cover having a changeable appearance. Responsive to user input, a controller disposed within the housing automatically controls the appearance of the soft cover to control the appearance of the mobile device. According to one or more embodiments of the present invention, the controller may control a color, light pattern, and/or image projected onto or displayed on the soft cover to control the appearance of the mobile device.

  • Publication number: 20020183068
Abstract: A mobile terminal searches for known individuals and acquaintances who may be in the vicinity of the user. A database of individual names and associated search codes is stored in the mobile terminal. Individual names may also be associated with a group. The user selects one or more individuals from the database that the user desires to find. The mobile terminal searches for other compatible devices and exchanges search codes with any found devices. If the search code received from a found device matches a search code for a selected individual or group, the user is notified. The identity of the found party may also be provided to the user as part of the notification.

  • Publication number: 20020112063
Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products are provided for requesting WTA protocol based actions. A request may be received for execution of the WTA protocol based action by a target mobile terminal that has a WTA agent. The request may include an identification code that identifies a destination device for the WTA protocol based action. The identification code that identifies the destination device may then be associated with a Uniform Resource Locator (URL). A push command including the URL may be generated at a server. The push command may then be transmitted to the target mobile terminal to initiate the requested WTA protocol based action by the WTA agent of the target mobile terminal. The WTA protocol based action may involve initiation of a call from the target mobile terminal to the destination device or repeatedly initiating calls from the target mobile device.
