  • Patent number: 11493786
Abstract: An eyewear device is disclosed including a frame, a temple connected to a lateral side of the frame, an array of light emitting diodes (LEDs) to emit light patterns on an inner surface of the frame or the temple within a peripheral view of a wearer of the eyewear, a processor coupled to the eyewear device, and a memory accessible to the processor. The memory stores programming for execution by the processor and notification patterns corresponding to the LEDs. Execution of the programming configures the eyewear device to identify an event for presentation to the wearer, select a notification pattern corresponding to the identified event, and display the selected notification pattern to the wearer by selectively illuminating the LEDs.

  • Patent number: 11380051
Abstract: Systems and methods for image based location estimation are described. In one example embodiment, a first positioning system is used to generate a first position estimate. Point cloud data describing an environment is then accessed. A two-dimensional surface of an image of an environment is captured, and a portion of the image is matched to a portion of key points in the point cloud data. An augmented reality object is then aligned within one or more images of the environment based on the match of the point cloud with the image. In some embodiments, building façade data may additionally be used to determine a device location and place the augmented reality object within an image.

  • Publication number: 20220147139
Abstract: An eyewear device presents, via an image display, an initial displayed image. The initial displayed image has an initial field of view corresponding to an initial head direction or an initial eye direction. Eyewear device detects movement of a user of the eyewear device by: (i) tracking, via a head movement tracker, a head movement of a head of the user, or (ii) tracking, via an eye movement tracker, an eye movement of an eye of the user of the eyewear device. Eyewear device determines a field of view adjustment to the initial field of view of the initial displayed image based on the detected movement of the user. Field of view adjustment includes a successive field of view corresponding to a successive head direction or a successive eye direction. Eyewear device generates a successive displayed image based on the field of view adjustment and presents the successive displayed image.

  • Publication number: 20220113814
Abstract: Systems, devices, media, and methods are presented for using a handheld device such as a ring to manipulate a virtual object being displayed by a wearable device such as eyewear. The path of the virtual object in motion is substantially linked, in time and space, to the course traveled by a hand holding the handheld device. The methods in some implementations include presenting the virtual object on a display at a first location relative to a three-dimensional coordinate system, collecting motion data from an inertial measurement unit on the handheld device, displaying the virtual object at a second location along a path based on the motion data. In some implementations the eyewear includes a projector located and configured to project the display onto a lens assembly.
