Abstract: A system allows a user to select multimedia content items from sources that include, but are not limited to, any of: Internet, network, or local. Selected multimedia content items may be stored in user specific caches residing in at least one cloud based storage device. Multimedia content items may be transcoded while or after being retrieved from a source and then stored in a user specific cache. Multimedia content items may be selected by a user from the user's specific cache and streamed to a user device.

Abstract: A display is capable of displaying images in response to signals of a plurality of signal formats. The display includes a controller that is coupled to a plurality of image data interfaces. When the plurality of image data interfaces are simultaneously operating, the controller selects one of the plurality of image data interfaces according to preference variables associated with each of the plurality of image data interfaces. Each of the preference variables may indicate a relative priority of an image data signal format associated with the corresponding image data interface. In addition, each of the preference variables may indicate one or more performance metrics associated with the quality of image data signals received from the corresponding image data interface.

Abstract: A method and system for updating the colorimetric characteristics of a flat panel display over the display's entire lifetime. An advantage of the present invention is that the useful life and the color accuracy of a flat panel display can be extended. In one embodiment of the invention, an initial set of luminance data of a flat panel monitor is programmed into addressable memory locations within that monitor. Thereafter, the luminance output of the lamps of the flat panel monitor is tracked with luminance or colorimetric measuring devices. According to the present invention, the luminance data are used in determining the correlation between voltage settings of the lamps and the color characteristics of the display such as color temperature. By measuring the luminance of the display periodically, a precise and accurate color profile of the flat panel display can be maintained.
