    Abstract: An electronic device is provided. The electronic device stores gesture mapping information indicating an association between a plurality of gestures and a plurality of functions associated with a plurality of applications of the electronic device. The electronic device receives first information about a first gesture, from a first user interface of the electronic device. The electronic device further determines a first set of functions, related to the plurality of applications, based on the stored gesture mapping information and the received first information. The electronic device further receives second information about a second gesture, from the first user interface. The second information about the second gesture received within a predefined time from the receipt of the first information and associated with a first function of the first set of functions. The electronic device further controls an execution of the first function associated with the second gesture.
