  • Publication number: 20140332188
Abstract: A heat exchanger is provided having two headers with a plurality of elongate tubes extending between the headers, where the tubes cooperate with an array of fins. The tubes have a plurality of dimpled sections having a non-uniform dimple density alternating with a plurality of smooth sections. The alternating dimpled and smooth sections allow heat to effectively transfer from a liquid coolant flowing through the tubes into the tube walls and fins at laminar, transitional, and turbulent flow conditions.

  • Publication number: 20120273161
Abstract: A heat exchanger for a vehicle is provided. The heat exchanger includes a housing, a portion of the housing defining a boundary of a coolant channel traversing the heat exchanger, the housing including a first and second opposing side having a layered construction, the first side positioned at a vehicle periphery and including a greater number of layers than the second side. The heat exchanger further includes coolant inlet and outlet ports fluidly coupled to coolant passages.

  • Patent number: 8167028
Abstract: A heat exchanger has a pair of header tanks with a plurality of tubes and a plurality of fins extending between the pair of header tanks. Each fin forms a plurality of corrugations extending in a length direction between the pair of tanks. Each corrugation extends in a width direction and defines a plurality of sections which are offset from each other in the length direction of the fin. Each section is separated from an adjacent section by a slit.
