    Abstract: A device for testing a data carrying service operating over a telecommunications line. The device comprises a plurality of test circuits, each test circuit arranged to determine and test one or more characteristics of a data carrying service and providing means to emulate a termination of said telecommunication line, processing means operable to control the operation of each of said plurality of test circuits, and connection means arranged to connect said telecommunication line to one or more of said plurality of test circuits. The said data carrying service remains connected to said connection means during all of the testing operations provided by said one or more of the test circuits.     Abstract: An HVAC duct is mounted within a pillar providing a frame element of a framing structure defining a passenger compartment of a vehicle such as a van, an SUV or a station wagon. The HVAC duct is stabilized within the pillar by a layer of structural foam or other cellular structure which is adhered to the interior surface of a wall of the pillar, for example, by heat expanded epoxy adhesive. In a method of assembling the HVAC duct and pillar, the duct is mounted on an interior wall portion of the pillar prior to enclosing the duct in the pillar by welding an exterior wall portion of the pillar to the interior wall portion of the pillar. Upon heating the pillar to bake the frame assembly after painting the frame assembly, the heat expandable epoxy expands and adheres to interior surfaces of the pillar walls. The resulting structure reduces structural intrusion into the passenger compartment by the duct and pillar assemblage, while increasing the cross-sectional area of the pillar.

    Abstract: This invention relates to a process for synthesizing para-diisopropylbenzene utilizing only cumene and propylene as raw materials. This synthesis technique offers the advantage of eliminating benzene as a raw material used in the process. The elimination of benzene is beneficial because it simplifies the process and eliminates the need to purchase and store benzene for use in the synthesis. The elimination of benzene from the synthesis is of particular value since the use of benzene in industrial applications has been under attack on the basis of environmental, safety, and health concerns.
