Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure provide systems and methods for identifying and controlling inefficiencies in pharmaceutical utilization. Embodiments identify medications at the National Drug Code level that do not provide clinical value over more cost-effective, yet equally efficacious therapeutic alternatives. Embodiments identify price outliers to generate a list which can be used as an exclusion drug list and insight tool for identifying price outlier medications for appropriate Fraud, Waste and Abuse (FWA) mitigation. Embodiments facilitate the identification of drugs having a higher cost than similar medications within the same category, without a corresponding increase in clinical value.
