  • Patent number: 7520392
Abstract: A liquid filter element frame (7) is provided comprising an elongate injection moulded body, conveniently composed of a series of collinear injection moulded units (13). The frame has a plurality of support ribs (14) radiating from a central axis thereof and a support collar (17) encircling the outer edges of the ribs at the operatively upper end. The collar has formed integral therewith a plurality of radially inwardly directed support rails (18) having inner ends cooperating with the moulded body between adjacent support ribs thereof. Preferably, the collar has a number of inwardly extending support rails equal to the number of radially extending support ribs with the inner edges (19) of the support rails being received neatly in a corner formed between each pair of adjacent support ribs. The invention also provides a liquid filter including filter elements having such frames.

  • Patent number: 6537449
Abstract: A liquid filter is provided of the type having a filter container with an inlet through the side of the container towards the lower end thereof, an outlet from the container, and a filter medium interposed between the inlet and outlet. The filter is adapted to utilize a filtration aid and to operate on the basis that at the termination of an operating cycle, filtration aid and dirt fall to the bottom of the container. The filtration aid and at least some dirt becomes stirred up and re-coated on the filter medium by liquid flowing into the container when the filter is started up once more. The inlet is fitted with a manifold having at least two outlet ports adapted to direct a portion of the inlet liquid in each of at least two generally opposite or substantially divergent directions.

  • Patent number: 6401938
Abstract: A liquid filter element frame is provided comprising an elongate injection moulded body having a plurality of support ribs radiating from a central axis thereof and a support ring encircling the outer edges of the ribs at the operatively lower end thereof. The ring has attached thereto a separately manufactured end disc having a smoothly contoured edge for supporting the lower end of a sleeve of filter fabric, in use. A sleeve made of filter fabric and adapted to be used as a cover for the element frame is also provided in which the operatively lower end and optionally also the upper end of the sleeve is made of a double layer of filter fabric. The frame fits within the sleeve in use.

  • Patent number: 5441633
Abstract: A liquid filter assembly is provided of the type having a container, a liquid inlet, a liquid outlet and a filter medium adapted to operate in conjunction with a filtration aid such as diatomaceous earth. The filter medium is of the type which the filtration aid falls off at the end of a cycle and becomes mixed with liquid and redeposited on the filter medium at the commencement of a new cycle. The liquid inlet has a cowl directed downwardly and at the incline to a radius of the container in plan view to direct incoming fluid towards the bottom of the container to properly distribute filtration aid from the container bottom.
