Abstract: A dropper post assembly for supporting a bicycle seat may include an outer tube extending along a post axis and an inner tube configured to be axially slidable within the outer tube by a travel distance that is at least 200 mm between a retracted and an extended position. A spring cartridge may have an unlocked configuration in which the spring cartridge exerts an extension force (FE) on the inner tube that biases the inner tube toward the extended position, and a locked configuration in which the spring cartridge is operable to generate a degassing force (FD) of between about 90 lbs and about 140 lbs to resist movement of the inner tube toward the retracted configuration.

  • Publication number: 20230322318
Abstract: A dropper post may include an outer tube and an inner tube slidable relative to the outer tube between an extended position and a retracted position. A spring cartridge may include an axially extending cylinder containing a combination of a liquid and a gas and having a sliding surface and a piston with a sealing portion dividing the cylinder interior to provide a first chamber and a second chamber. Moving the inner tube toward the retracted position expands the first chamber. When inner tube is in the extended position the sealing portion is at least partially submerged in the liquid, the second chamber contains a layer of the gas above a layer of the liquid and the first chamber contains the liquid and when the inner tube is in the retracted position the first chamber contains the liquid and a layer of gas between the liquid and the sealing portion.

  • Patent number: 11767073
Abstract: A dropper post assembly for supporting a bicycle seat may include an outer tube extending along a post axis and an inner tube configured to be axially slidable within the outer tube by a travel distance that is at least 200 mm between a retracted and an extended position. The inner tube may have an outer diameter that is between 25.5 mm and 30 mm, and when the inner tube is in the extended position a moment of inertia (Ix) taken adjacent the seat collar is at least 11,000 mm4. An actuator may be operable to change the spring cartridge between the locked configuration and the unlocked configuration.

  • Patent number: 11691692
Abstract: A crank arm for a bicycle may include a body extending along a body axis and having a first body end and a second body end axially spaced apart from the first body end. The insert may also include an insert provided toward the first body end. The insert may include a base portion having a radially outer surface. At least one extension may extend outwardly from the radially outer surface and may be encased within a corresponding recess in the body whereby relative planar movement between the body and the at least one extension in a first plane. The retaining portion may have a retaining portion width measured in the first direction and the retaining width may be greater than the throat width thereby inhibiting relative radial movement between the at least one extension and the recess and preventing radial extraction of the extension from the corresponding recess.

  • Publication number: 20220281546
Abstract: There is described a bicycle seat post assembly in which the travel distance of the seat post can be adjusted. The seat post assembly includes an outer tube that is configured to telescopically receive an inner tube. The inner tube is axially slidable relative to the outer tube between a retracted position and an extended position, the extended position being determined by an extension assembly in which an inner contact member engages an outer contact member, thereby setting the upper limit of axial extension of the inner tube. The extension of the inner tube can be limited to an intermediate position that lies between the retracted and extended positions by an insertable shim that is positionable between the inner and outer contact members.

Abstract: A bicycle chainring may have a plurality of first teeth that fit within the narrow link spaces in a drive chain, and a plurality of second teeth that fit within the wide link spaces in a drive chain. Each second tooth may have a first width that is greater than the its tip width at a location that is between about 40% and about 60% of the tooth height and a second width that is greater than the first width and is between the first plane and the root. A first transition portion may be on a first side of the second tooth and may extends between a first edge that is at the tip and extends in an edge direction that is substantially parallel to the central plane and a second edge that is disposed at the second plane and extends in the edge direction.
