  • Patent number: 9596916
Abstract: Disclosed is a hair care appliance comprising a body, a fluid flow path extending through the body from an inlet through which a fluid flow enters the appliance to an outlet for emitting the fluid flow from a front end of the body, and an attachment for adjusting at least one parameter of fluid emitted from the appliance, the attachment comprising an upstream end for attaching to the appliance, wherein one or both of the front end of the body and the upstream end of the attachment comprises at least one magnet. The front end may comprise an end wall extending radially inwards of the body and comprising the at least one magnet or a plurality of magnets radially spaced about the end wall or a ring of magnetic material extending around the end wall. The upstream end may comprise a plurality of magnets radially spaced about an end face.

  • Publication number: 20160313292
Abstract: In the production of petroleum-based products in a refinery, viscosity and density are accurately and repeatedly measured at an elevated temperature, sometimes in a hostile environment. A densitometer and viscometer are located in a non-purged enclosure, but the electrical controls that could cause a spark to ignite fumes are located in a purged enclosure with connections there between. A heat pipe extending from the purged enclosure to the non-purged enclosure accurately controls the temperature of a sample during testing. For difficult to handle petroleum-based products such as asphalt, a sample conditioning system prepares the sample prior to testing.

  • Publication number: 20160259298
Abstract: A device that creates visible light in space comprises of a light source and optics system that result in irradiated visible spectrum light rays with a low intensity such that the light is not visible by the normal observer. Multiple rays of visible-spectrum low-intensity non-visible light intersect. When the constructive intensity of the intersecting light is above the threshold for being visible then light appears at that place. The light rays to and from the visible light remain non-visible. The addition of irradiated visible light results in additional visual effects. The visible light can be moved in space, and form multi-dimensional images and holograms. User and programmable controls, with communication abilities and data storage, can mediate the light source and optics to control the visible image.

  • Publication number: 20160206075
Abstract: An attachment for a hand held appliance, the attachment having a first wall, and a bung housed within the first wall wherein each of the first wall and the bung are moulded as a single unit which are subsequently joined together. One of the first wall and the bung may include a locating rib and the other of the first wall and the bung may include a locating recess and the locating rib and locating recess are adapted to cooperate together to position the bung with respect to the first wall. In addition to the locating rib and locating recess, the first wall and the bung may be secured using one or more of gluing, welding and screwing the parts together.

  • Patent number: 9396913
Abstract: A charge read-out structure for photon and particle detectors, which is capable of spatially-resolving a position of the charge. The structure comprises a resistive element defining a detection surface which is capacitively coupled to an array of electrically insulated electrodes. Each electrode in the array is capacitively coupled to an adjacent electrode in the array to form a capacitively coupled network of electrodes. Selected ones of the electrodes in the array are each coupled to an array output for connection to a respective charge measurement device. The resistive element has a resistivity sufficient to temporarily localize a charge induced on the resistive element to an area corresponding to a subset of said electrodes in the array and for a duration sufficient for signal measurement from the array of electrodes.
