  • Patent number: 11984752
Abstract: A motor driven actuator device includes an actuator motor; a controller; an input for receiving an external power supply; and a battery pack electrically connected to selectively drive the actuator motor, and electrically connectable to the external power supply for charging. During charging of the battery pack, the controller is configured to compare a measured charge level with a pre-determined charge level required to complete at least two battery shutdown events under battery power alone. During subsequent actuator device operation, the controller is configured to: determine if the external power supply is invalid, instruct a battery shutdown event causing the battery to be discharged, with enough charge in the battery to complete at least one further battery shutdown event; and, subsequently detect when the external power supply becomes valid, and resume actuator device operation under the external power supply, while simultaneously recharging the battery pack to at least the pre-determined charge level.

  • Patent number: 11742676
Abstract: A motor driven industrial actuator device includes an enclosure that houses: a motor, a control module, a drive, a battery pack and associated temperature sensor, and an input that receives an external power supply. The control module receives: the status of the external power supply, the charge state of the battery pack, the status of the battery pack, or the charge state and status of the battery pack. The control module causes the battery pack to be charged when an external power supply is present and the battery pack requires charging. During charging of the battery pack, the control module: receives the temperature associated with the battery pack from the temperature sensor; compares the measured temperature with a predetermined threshold temperature; and reduces the current to the battery pack if the measured temperature is greater than the predetermined threshold temperature.

  • Patent number: 11626744
Abstract: A motor-driven actuator device includes an enclosure (1) in which a motor, control module (3) and a drive (4) are housed. The drive (4) is coupled between a motor and a device being actuated. The device also includes an input for receiving a renewable or harvested energy power supply and a battery pack (6) housed within said enclosure (1). The battery pack (8) is electrically connected to selectively drive the motor and drive system (4) and is electrically connectable to the renewable or harvested energy power supply for charging. The control module is configured to cause the battery pack (6) to selectively drive the motor and cause the actuator to move.

  • Publication number: 20220231531
Abstract: The present invention describes a motor driven actuator device comprising an actuator motor; a control module; an input for receiving an external power supply; and a battery pack. The battery pack is electrically connected to selectively drive the actuator motor, and is electrically connectable to the external power supply for charging. During charging of the battery pack, the control module is configured to: receive data representative of the measured charge level of the battery pack; compare the measured charge level with a pre-determined charge level required to complete at least two battery shutdown events under battery power alone, wherein a battery shutdown event involves moving the actuator device to a failsafe position; and, if the measured charge level is equal to or greater than the pre-determined charge level, indicate the battery status to other internal components associated with the actuator device.
