    Abstract: An improved flushing and cooling system for shaft seals that are located in cavities in the pump housing includes inlet and discharge ports extending through the housing into the seal cavities and a pumping ring seal that is arranged to circulate the fluid through the inlet port past the seal and outwardly from the outlet port into the housing of the pump. Both ends of the housing can be provided with such a system and the systems interconnected internally of the housing to balance the pressure therebetween.
