  • Publication number: 20220009346
Abstract: A vehicle mounted fuel filler pocket and hingedly attachable door assembly, having a housing with an upper rim edge defining a pocket shaped body to which is communicated a fuel filler tube. A door overlays the upper rim edge in a closed position. A hinge bracket secures to an underside location of the door at a first end, the hinge bracket having a widthwise extending pin at a second end which is pivotally supported within circular capture recesses defined in a subset area of the pocket shaped body to permit the door to be pivoted from the upper rim edge to an open position. A detent cam mechanism is provided for biasing the door at each of the closed and open positions.

  • Publication number: 20200223112
Abstract: A compression molding technique, assembly and method for producing an acoustic/environmental sealing component, such as for use in a vehicle pillar. A two part mold defines a negative impression cavity of the completed part and within which is deposited a compounded and expandable resin as any of loose beads, granules or a syrup. The resin is heated within the mold to a temperature below that necessary for it activation/expansion, concurrent with being compression formed. A pre-formed rigid substrate not limited to a nylon is incorporated into the mold and against which is compression formed the resin.

  • Publication number: 20190234439
Abstract: An invert-able feature in a first layer for securing a second layer. A profile projects from an interior recess defining perimeter of the first layer, the profile including angled sides and a central interconnecting and actuating face. Beams extend from the sides and, upon positioning the second layer, are in communication with an aperture of the second layer. A tool having an actuating profile is applied to an exterior facing sided of the pyramidal profile and is exerted to cause the pyramidal shape to compress together and subsequently invert through a reduced area represented by the recessed interior to travel past an underside of the first layer, with the beams caused to displace to engage the second layer to the first layer.
