  • Publication number: 20070152406
Abstract: An adjustable socket assembly adapted to receive a night vision device, the adjustable socket assembly including a body, a branch, and guide means attached to one of the body or the branch, wherein one of the body or the branch is slidably coupled to the guide means and wherein the body is aligned with the branch to form a night vision device receiving area having an adjustable width. The guide means maintains alignment between the body and the branch. The guide means may be, for example, guide pins or retaining screws.

  • Publication number: 20070012830
Abstract: A mount for monocular enhanced night vision goggles having an ocular preference adjustment, an interpupillary adjustment, an eye relief adjustment, a tilt adjustment, a vertical adjustment, a quick stowage feature and a flip-up stowage feature is disclosed. An apparatus in accordance with the present invention has a housing secured to headgear. A vertical block is slidably coupled to the housing allowing it to translate vertically. A chassis is rotatably coupled to the vertical block allowing it to rotate between an in-use and flip-up position. A monorail is rotatably coupled to the chassis allowing it to rotate between an in-use and a quick stowage position. A carriage is slidably coupled to the monorail allowing for an eye relief adjustment. Enhanced night vision goggles are attached to a socket assembly which is movably coupled to the carriage allowing relocation in front of either eye while facing the same direction.

  • Publication number: 20060290451
Abstract: An apparatus for sensing relative positions of mechanically coupled devices. The apparatus includes a magnetically actuated switch connected to a set of flux conductors to form a switch assembly. A permanent magnet is affixed to a set of flux conductors to form a magnet assembly. The flux conductors are positioned adjacently to conduct flux from the permanent magnet to the magnetically actuated switch. Movement of either assembly results in the reduction of flux conduction between the magnet and the magnetically actuated switch. The apparatus can be integrated into a helmet mount for night vision goggles to sense the relative position of the helmet mount for controlling the operation of the night vision goggle.

  • Publication number: 20060174401
Abstract: A helmet mount includes a helmet block, a chassis attached to the helmet block, the chassis adapted to receive the night vision device, and a vertical adjustment assembly for vertically adjusting a night vision device relative to a user's eyes while the helmet mount is secured to the helmet and the night vision device is received in the helmet mount. The vertical adjustment assembly includes a front and back plate that are slidably connected, wherein the front plate is coupled to the chassis and the back plate is coupled to the helmet mount, and a gear drive system. Rotating a lever on the gear drive system rotates the gear so that the vertical position of the chassis is changed relative to the helmet block. The gear driven system further includes at least one biasing means placed between the front plate and the back plate and may include a tapered shaft.
