  • Publication number: 20240391721
Abstract: An assembly handles a roll used on a machine in a converting line. A storage assembly has a storage structure that extends above the machine that uses the roll. The storage assembly has a rack for supporting the roll in the storage structure. The rack has a roll mover configured to move horizontally between a stored position and an extended position. A transfer assembly has first and second supports on laterally opposite sides of the converting line. The first and second supports are adjacent to and extending above the machine. The transfer assembly has a lifter that is operatively connected to and supported by the first and second supports. The lifter is configured to move vertically relative to the first and second supports between the storage assembly and the machine. The transfer assembly is configured to transfer the roll between the rack in the storage structure and the machine.

  • Publication number: 20230150077
Abstract: A tissue log cutting saw has an arm movable orbitally within an interior of saw house. A spindle and housing is mounted to the arm. A tool holder with a blade is arrangeable at a first end of the spindle, and an opposite second end rotationally drives the spindle while providing access to an operator of a clamp in the spindle. The clamp is moveable between a hold position in which the clamp engages the tool holder at the first end, and a release position in which the clamp disengages from the tool holder and allows the tool holder to be removed from the first end. An actuator mounted to a structure separate from the arm has an end effector that cooperates with the operator of the clamp to enable the tool holder to be released from the clamp to facilitate automatic changing of a blade of the saw.

  • Patent number: 11447362
Abstract: An apparatus supports a convolutely wound log of web material during cutting of the convolutely wound log, and includes a bottom support link operatively pivotally coupled to a support frame and a side support link operatively pivotally coupled to the support frame and the bottom support link. A flexible member operatively coupled to a distal end of the side support link extends tangentially from the side support link and curves away from the side support link and the bottom support link so that a portion of the flexible member is spaced away from the side support link and the bottom support link. The spaced away portion of the flexible member together with the side support link and the bottom support link at least in part define a support surface for supporting the convolutely wound log when the log is directed into the apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20210178626
Abstract: A blade storage array is detachably mountable with a tissue log cutting saw. The saw has a cutting arm with a tool holder receptacle adapted and configured to hold a circular saw blade for the saw. The array has a plurality of storage units. Each storage unit is adapted and configured to store a circular saw blade for the saw. Each storage unit has a tool holder receptacle adapted and configured to hold a circular saw blade. Each storage unit is adapted and configured to move perpendicularly to the saw blade center axis.
