  • Publication number: 20070263586
Abstract: The present invention relates to Walsh Code Allocation (WCA) field in the Packet Data Control Channel. One of the embodiments of the WCA field is use of the WCA field as Last Walsh Code Index (LWCI) field in the message format of the PDCCH. The LWCI field indicates the corresponding last code index or the corresponding number of Walsh codes in a Walsh Code Index (WCI) Table/List/Set. In alternative embodiments, the WCA indicates a general set of Walsh codes or a specific set of Walsh codes in the WCI table. The WCA fields may or may not be used with one of power ranking and sequential decoding, but is preferable used. The WCA field has various advantages including but not limited to efficient use of system resources.

  • Publication number: 20070171840
Abstract: The data transmission rate on the reverse link in a mobile communications system is controlled by determining an interference level at a base station due to signals from all mobile stations served by the base station, and determining a transmission energy level required for each mobile station. The interference level is compared with the transmission energy level to obtain a comparison result for each mobile station, and each mobile adjusts its data transmission rate based upon the comparison result, which is sent via a common channel on a forward link to each mobile station in a dedicated manner. Thereafter, packet data is transmitted on the reverse link in accordance with the adjusting so that data throughput can be maximized.

  • Publication number: 20070025350
Abstract: A method of generating a public long code mask for a broadcast/multicast service and apparatus thereof are provided, by which, upon performing the broadcast/multicast service, an overhead of a base station or a mobile terminal can be reduced and a delay occurring in the base station or mobile terminal can be reduced. In a method of carrying out a broadcast/multicast service provided via a channel of a mobile communication system, the method includes steps of receiving a flow identifier indicative of the broadcast/multicast service; and generating, based on the received flow identifier, a public long code mask for the channel providing the broadcast/multicast service.

  • Publication number: 20060252445
Abstract: The transmission power of a retransmission packet is controlled in the event of a packet retransmission request being sent from a receiving side in a wireless mobile communication system supporting hybrid automatic retransmission request (HARQ) transmission. In a method of controlling transmission power of retransmission packets by a mobile terminal in a wireless mobile communication system supporting hybrid automatic retransmission request (HARQ) transmission, the method includes steps of receiving, from a base station, gain information associated with the sequence of the retransmission packets; determining, using the gain information, transmission power of one of the retransmission packets; and transmitting the retransmission packet with the determined transmission power.

  • Publication number: 20060209748
Abstract: A method of transmitting a broadcast message using a Forward Common Control Channel (F-CCCH) in a wireless communication system is disclosed. More specifically, a base station determines whether a periodic enhanced broadcast page is enabled or disabled, and then transmits at least one broadcast message via a first slot of a broadcast paging cycle of the F-CCCH if determined that the periodic enhanced broadcast page is enabled.

  • Publication number: 20060203767
Abstract: A method of transmitting an overhead message via a control channel which has at least one slot is disclosed. More specifically, a base station (BS) transmits an overhead slot cycle index for providing the overhead message to a mobile station (MS) and thereafter, receives the overhead slot cycle index and determining an overhead slot cycle. Furthermore, the BS transmits the overhead message on a first slot of each overhead slot cycle according to a variable duration of the slot, and then receives the overhead message from the first slot of each overhead slot cycle according to the variable duration of the slot.

  • Publication number: 20060030327
Abstract: A code combining soft handoff method is disclosed. A mobile terminal measures a strength of respective pilot signals received from a plurality of base stations. If the strength of the received pilot signal is higher than a given value, a base station controller allocates a new code pattern to the corresponding base station to additionally receive a signal from the base station. If the strength of the received pilot signal is lower than the specified value, it drops a signal of the corresponding base station. The mobile terminal and the base station change the code pattern of one of the signals from the two base stations into a code pattern different from the code pattern of the other signal.

  • Publication number: 20050002370
Abstract: A fast call setup system and method for a mobile communications device is provided. A mobile terminal monitors a paging channel on a first predetermined cycle, the paging channel comprising a plurality of slots for monitoring. After a traffic channel is disconnected upon receiving a release order, the network provides reduced slot cycle parameters to the mobile terminal. The mobile terminal uses these parameters to monitor the paging channel using a reduced slot cycle. Upon the expiration of an operational timer or through an intervention of either the network or the mobile terminal, the reduced slot cycle is terminated and a normal slot cycle is reinstated.
