  • Patent number: 7586876
Abstract: A method for performing a handoff between a wireless local area network (LAN) including an access router (AR) supporting an Internet protocol (IP) routing function and a mobile communication network including a packet data service node (PDSN) connected to a base station system (BSS), for supporting the IP routing function. An access terminal (AT) detects its movement from the wireless LAN to the mobile communication network, and exchanges information for tunneling between the AR and the PDSN, with the PDSN. The PDSN sets up a tunnel for packet delivery between the PDSN and the AR, and delivers packets to the AT through the set tunnel.

  • Publication number: 20060050674
Abstract: A handoff method is provided between a mobile communication network including a packet data service node (PDSN), connected to a base station system (BSS), for supporting an Internet protocol (IP) routing function, and a wireless local area network (LAN) including an access router (AR) supporting the IP routing function. Upon detecting handoff to the wireless LAN, an access terminal (AT) with a contact set up to the PDSN exchanges a data packet with a correspondent node (CN) via a tunnel between the AR and the PDSN. The AT determines a user traffic state according to a transmission/reception state of the data packet, and changes the contact connected to the AT according to the user traffic state.

  • Publication number: 20060002355
Abstract: A method and system for providing a handoff between a mobile communication network including a mobile switching center (MSC) and a home location register (HLR), and a wireless local area network (WLAN) including an access point (AP) and a voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) gateway to provide a VoIP service. The HLR registers therein subscriber information for the MT including an Internet protocol (IP) address of the AP. The MT transmits a handoff request to the MSC if the MT connected to the mobile communication network has moved to a region of the WLAN. The HLR transmits the subscriber information to the VoIP gateway. The AP allocates an IP address and a channel for WLAN access by the MT, and sets a session for a VoIP service of the MT.

  • Publication number: 20050078627
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for setting up a call of a push to talk (PTT) service in an access network of a cellular mobile telecommunication system in a system comprising a user agent (UA) capable of performing packet data communication, a cellular mobile telecommunication system capable of providing the UA with a packet data service, and a PTT server connected to the cellular mobile telecommunication system and capable of providing a PTT service with packet data. The method comprises the steps of creating a short data burst (SDB)-type PTT request message as a data burst record when the UA is paged and configuring a data base message (DBM) in such a manner that it includes the created SDB, inserting it into a general page message (GPM), and transmitting it via a predetermined forward channel.

  • Publication number: 20050002351
Abstract: A method for delivering a received frame packet, to be transmitted from a packet data service node to a mobile station in a dormant state by a packet control function in a mobile communication system capable of providing data service or Push-To-Talk (PTT) service to the mobile station, via a base station connected to the packet control function. The packet control function delivers the received packet data and paging data to the base station where the mobile station in the dormant state is located. The base station forms the received packet data into an SDB (Short Data Burst), includes the SDB in a DBM (Data Burst Message) message, and transmits the DBM message to the mobile station if an analysis result of the received paging data indicates that the mobile station in the dormant state has requested fast packet paging and the base station can currently provide the fast packet paging.

  • Publication number: 20050002345
Abstract: A method and system for rapidly processing a call when one of a plurality of user agents (UAs) in a dormant state makes a traffic transmission request in a wireless telecommunication system. The wireless telecommunication system includes an access network (AN) for simultaneously performing group communication with at least two UAs. When no data is generated for a predetermined time after a traffic channel has been set up in an active state, the traffic channel is released and the UA transitions to the dormant state based on a suspended mode. A slot cycle index value is set to a first slot cycle index value for a slot mode operation in the dormant state based on the suspended mode, and the AN is notified of the first slot cycle index value. A paging message is received according to a paging time adjusted by the AN using the first slot cycle index value.

  • Publication number: 20040219940
Abstract: A method and system for setting up a call for a Push-to-Talk (PTT) service in a cellular mobile communication system including at least two user agents, each of the user agents serving as a talker or a listener. A talker transmits a first PTT request message for starting a PTT call to a PTT server over a reverse common channel, and sets up a traffic channel to a corresponding radio access network. The PTT server transmits a second PTT request message to a listener in a dormant state over a forward common channel, and the listener sets up a traffic channel to a corresponding radio access network in response to the second PTT request message. The listener sets up the traffic channel, and transmits a PTT confirm message to the PTT server over a reverse common channel in response to the second PTT request message. The talker transmits voice packets to the listener over the set traffic channel via the PTT server.
