Abstract: An X-ray imaging apparatus and method for reducing X-ray scattering are provided. The X-ray imaging apparatus includes an X-ray source, a collimator, a detector, and a controller. The X-ray source emits X-rays, the collimator collimates the X-rays into an X-ray beam, and the detector may include a two-dimensional array of pixels. The controller controls the collimator such that the X-ray beam scans a subject while moving over time. In addition, the controller operates the detector to only operate pixels at an exposure area of the detector where the X-ray beam arrives without scattering such that photocharges generated due to the X-ray exposure can be accumulated and stored in the pixels.

  • Publication number: 20080199055
Abstract: Provided are a method and apparatus for extracting facial features from an image containing a face. The method and apparatus filter an input image using a filter set for face recognition at each of predetermined locations in the input image, merge values obtained by filtering the input image at locations, which are horizontally symmetrical to each other with respect to the center of the face, and synthesize values obtained by filtering the input image at locations which are not symmetrical to each other with respect to the center of the face with the merged values. Therefore, the time, feature values, and storage space required to extract or compare facial features can be significantly reduced. In addition, a face recognition system that runs well on low specification hardware can be implemented.

  • Patent number: 7272380
Abstract: A user authentication method includes varying a threshold value for human body recognition depending on the extent to which an input graphical password matches with a registered graphical password and determining whether to authenticate a user or not based on a result of comparing the user's human body recognition information with registered human body recognition information. Thus, it is possible to improve convenience, reliability, and security of user authentication based on a graphical password in a device, such as a PDA or other portable electronic device, not having a key manipulation unit. In addition, a biometrics unit that used to provide authentication functions and to carry out user authentication may be improved by lowering both FAR and FRR by variably setting a threshold value for biometrics depending on the result of user authentication using a graphical password.
