Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus and a method for enhancing an image in a portable terminal. The apparatus includes an image processor for performing an Image Signal Processing (ISP) for an image received in a preview mode, an ROI processor for extracting an ROI from the image received from the image processor, enhancing an image of the extracted ROI, and synthesizing the image of the enhanced ROI with the image received from the image processor, and a controller for controlling the ROI processor to extract an ROI from an image received from the image processor, enhancing an image of the extracted ROI when a photographing is selected, synthesizing an image of the enhanced ROI with the image received from the image processor, and outputting an synthesized image.

Abstract: An apparatus and method of determining a convergence angle of a stereo camera. The method includes setting interest regions by first and second cameras, respectively, the interest regions having a same size and being symmetric to each other; photographing images by the first and second cameras while varying a convergence angle of the stereo camera by a predetermined degree for each photographed image of the first and second cameras, respectively; analyzing image histograms of the interest regions for each of the first and second cameras; and setting an optimum convergence angle.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for creating a lens shading compensation table suitable for a photography environment are provided. A photography environment condition determining unit determines photography environment conditions of an image input from a camera module. A compensation parameter detecting unit detects compensation parameters corresponding to the determined photography environment conditions. A compensation table creating unit creates a lens shading compensation table suitable for the determined photography environment conditions by applying the detected compensation parameters to a predetermined reference lens shading compensation table.
