  • Patent number: 10405211
Abstract: Techniques for facilitating device-to-device (D2D) communications using a high efficiency distributed channel access scheme are generally described herein. In some examples, a communication zone allocated for wireless D2D communications is divided into resource contention and scheduled transmission portions. The resource contention segment may be used to transmit a request message from a transmitting device to a receiving device (a request-to-send message), and transmit a response to the request message from the receiving device to the transmitting device (a clear-to-send message). The response can indicate a time for the data transmission to occur during the scheduled transmission segment. During the scheduled transmission segment, the scheduled data transmission and other D2D data transmissions among the various devices will be performed. In further examples, contention access techniques may be used during the resource contention segment to manage access to the resource channel.

  • Patent number: 10405310
Abstract: An eNodeB operable to perform Enhanced Interference Mitigation & Traffic Adaptation (eIMTA) is disclosed. The eNodeB can select a radio network temporary identifier (RNTI) that is used for eIMTA. The eNodeB can determine a periodicity for monitoring a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) with the RNTI. The eNodeB can determine a set of subframes to monitor the PDCCH with the RNTI within the periodicity. The eNodeB can encode, for transmission to a user equipment (UE), the RNTI, the periodicity for monitoring the PDCCH with the RNTI, and the set of subframes to monitor the PDCCH with the RNTI.

  • Patent number: 10390236
Abstract: Techniques, apparatus and methods are disclosed that enable reduced signaling overhead in a fifth generation (5G) wireless system. The system includes support for asynchronous uplink transmission, resource pool configuration, acknowledgement response and retransmission. For example, in a Type-1 transmission scheme, a user equipment (UE) selects one resource within the resource pool and transmits data in the uplink on the selected resource. In a Type-2 transmission scheme, a UE selects one resource within a scheduling request (SR) region in the resource pool, transmits the SR for the resource which contains the resource allocation for data transmission, and transmits the uplink data on the resource which is indicated in the SR information.

  • Patent number: 10390292
Abstract: An eNodeB (eNB), user equipment (UE) and method of providing a quasi-orthogonal multiple access (QOMA) resources are generally described. The UE receives allocation of orthogonal multiple access (OMA) and non-OMA (NOMA) resources. The UE transmits data up to a maximum NOMA rate and NOMA Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) using the NOMA resources without receiving an explicit transmission grant from the eNB. The eNB may allocate multiple NOMA regions associated with different maximum rates, MCSs, number of UEs, UE types, applications and sizes. If the data exceeds the NOMA conditions or the UE is unable to transmit data using the allocated NOMA resources or does not receive an acknowledgement from the eNB regarding reception of the transmitted data, the UE may request an explicit grant of the OMA resources from the eNB and, upon receiving an allocation of the OMA resources, subsequently transmit the data using the allocated OMA resources.

  • Publication number: 20190149276
Abstract: Devices and methods of receiving a PDCCH-less xSIB are generally described. A UE receive a xPBCH that occurs in a 0th or a 25th subframe and an ePBCH in an ePBCH transmission block. The ePBCH has the xSIB and is received on different Tx beams. The ePBCH spans consecutive symbols on the same subcarrier and with the same ePBCH symbol. The frame number, subframe number and symbol number of the ePBCH is dependent on a subframe number and symbol number of the xPBCH. The number of beams received for a particular symbol is dependent on a total number of beams, a beam sweeping time for the beams and a transmission periodicity of the xPBCH and ePBCH. The UE also uses different OCCs to demodulate a DMRS from different APs, in a same PRB as the ePBCH.
