    Abstract: An apparatus and a method for charging an LPG fuel vehicle are provided to charge a LPG tank with LPG fuel by decreasing part of pressure in the LPG tank when pressure in the LPG tank, which stores the LPG fuel, is greater than charging pressure. That is, pressure in the LPG tank is decreased to be equal to or lower than charging pressure of a charger and the LPG tank with LPG fuel is charged more smoothly from the charger, by capturing part of the LPG fuel in the LPG tank and allowing the LPG fuel to be combusted in the engine when pressure in the LPG tank of the vehicle is greater than LPG charging pressure of the charger.

    Abstract: A liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) filling system of a bi-fuel vehicle is provided. The LPG filling system may be configured for reducing the temperature and pressure in an LPG bombe for storing LPG in the case in which the external temperature is very high, e.g. in the hot season, whereby it is possible to easily refill the LPG bombe with LPG. The LPG filling system is configured to cool the inside of an LPG bombe and to reduce the vapor pressure of LPG by supplying some gasoline from a gasoline tank into the LPG bombe using the fact that the temperature of gasoline in the gasoline tank is lower than the temperature of LPG in the LPG bombe, whereby it is possible to easily refill the LPG bombe with LPG even in the case in which the external temperature is very high, e.g. in the hot season.

The fuel filling apparatus and method are capable of temporarily burning a portion of LPG fuel after collecting the fuel portion, using a gasoline fuel tank and a canister, when the internal pressure of an LPG fuel tank in the bi-fuel vehicle is equal to or greater than an LPG filling pressure of a filling gun. Additionally, the internal pressure of the LPG fuel tank is decreased to a level below the LPG filling pressure of the filling gun, thereby achieving smoother LPG fuel filling of the LPG fuel tank by the filling gun.
