  • Publication number: 20060007250
Abstract: A display apparatus having a display part to receive a predetermined weight number of sustain pulses to display a frame of an image time-shared into a plurality of subfields, the display apparatus includes a motion detector to determine whether an input image is a still image, and a pulse driver to transmit a number of sustain pulses to the display part, and to decrease the number of sustain pulses transmitted to the display part to cause every frame to be smaller than the weight number when the motion detector determines the input image to be the still image. In this display apparatus and control method thereof, image sticking is prevented without deteriorating gradation representation and without a visual error.

  • Publication number: 20050206588
Abstract: A display apparatus with a display part displaying a picture thereon, the display apparatus including a brightness level determiner to determine a brightness level of the video signal and a sub-field coder to change the video signal into a sub-field code word formed as binary data that is sequentially arranged with respect to a plurality of sub-fields and representing a luminescence state of the pixel of the display part at each sub-field, and to output the sub-field code word to the display part. A luminescence pattern generator determines the number of sustaining pulses applied to the plurality of sub-fields forming the frame according to the brightness levels determined by the brightness level determiner, and transmits the sustaining pulses to the display part during a luminescence period of each sub-field until the number of representable gradation levels is equal to the number of sustaining pulses for the frame.

  • Publication number: 20050002456
Abstract: An apparatus for and a method of detecting a motion vector (MV) by selectively using a median filter according to a correlation between blocks in a frame rate conversion of an image signal. The apparatus includes first and second motion vector detection units. The first motion vector detection unit performs motion estimation on a reference block to detect a motion vector as a final MV of the reference block if a location of the reference block in the present frame of an input image signal belongs to an object's boundary area adjacent to an image area in which a motion scarcely exists. The second motion vector detection unit performs median-filtering the MV of the reference block to detect a medial MV as the final MV of the reference block if the location of the reference block does not belong to the object's boundary facing the area in which the motion scarcely exists. Thus, the occurrence of motion artifacts due to the median filter can be prevented.

  • Publication number: 20040008289
Abstract: Provided are an apparatus and method for controlling CRT focusing in a television, and more particularly, an apparatus and method for separately controlling focusing of R, G, and B cathode ray tubes in a television using a triple tube type optical system based on a digital method. The apparatus includes a memory, a controller, and an R/G/B focusing correction signal generator. The memory stores focusing correction data of R, G, and B cathode ray tubes for a position of a screen. The controller reads and outputs the focusing correction data of the R, G, and B cathode ray tubes from the memory for the position of the screen, based on horizontal and vertical synchronization signals. The R/G/B focusing correction signal generator calculates the focusing correction data of the R, G, and B cathode ray tubes read from the memory and generates R, G, and B analog focusing correction signals that will be applied to R, G, and B coils.
