Abstract: A method and mobile device for providing recommended items based on context awareness are provided. In the method, it is determined whether an event satisfying at least one predetermined condition has been generated, recommended items customized to the event are generated, and a first window is displayed in an area according to a predetermined layout, the first window including the recommended items and a notification indicating that the items are recommended according to a context of the event generation.

Abstract: A method for enabling easy access to an application linked to contact information is provided. The method includes retrieving a substitute contact means or available applications for contact information of a message while a text messaging screen is being displayed, displaying respective indicators of at least one application with the message, and turning to a running screen of an application that corresponds to a selected indicator. By doing this, a user may easily run the substitute contact means or associated application without leaving the text messaging screen while using the text messaging. It thus gives an advantage of effectively guaranteeing continuity of conversation from the perspective of the user.

Abstract: A mobile device having a parallax scrolling function and a method for controlling the mobile device are provided. The method includes displaying a plurality of objects on a touch screen of the mobile device, detecting a touch for scrolling the plurality of objects on the touch screen, and sequentially scrolling the plurality of objects at different time intervals according to attributes of the plurality of objects.

Abstract: A method for receiving a user's gesture-based input and apparatus of a mobile device is provided. The method and apparatus halts an input function by a particular mode that is executed when a present event occurs on the mobile device, creates a new input area, allows for a user's gesture-based input, and controls the function of the mobile device according to the user's gesture. The method includes: sensing an event that occurs while the mobile device is operating in a particular mode; and creating a new input area for receiving a user's gesture-based input and providing it. When the event occurs, the input function with respect to data of the particular mode is halted. The new input area is provided as a fog screen having a fog effect. The functions of the mobile device are controlled according to a user's gestures that are performed on the fog screen.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for setting a section of a multimedia file in a mobile device are provided. The apparatus may allow a user to select a section of multimedia file in an intuitive and simple manner. After selecting a multimedia file, the mobile device activates a section selection function of the multimedia file and displays a section selection mark for setting a section. The mobile device then selects the section of the multimedia file by moving the section selection mark along a progress bar indicating a total play time of the selected multimedia file.
