    Abstract: An apparatus and method for protecting a passenger of a vehicle that may minimize impact energy transmitted to a passenger by realizing rotation, position change, and space securing of an interior seat according to sensor detection of an external impact to a vehicle. The apparatus for protecting a passenger includes at least one seat movable in a length direction of the vehicle and rotatable disposed inside a vehicle, a plurality of sensing units installed in the vehicle and outputting a collision signal in case of a vehicle collision, and a controller determining a direction and location of a collision in the vehicle in case of the vehicle collision and controlling the at least one seat to be selectively moved and/or rotated according to the direction and location of the collision.
