Abstract: Disclosed are a system and a method for switching between communication networks, by which a portable terminal can switch from a currently connected communication network to a target communication network within reduced time and with only minimum information. The communication network switching system includes a first communication network configured to transmit only minimum information for call setup among available information of a second communication network to a portable terminal when there is a request for a service of the second communication network by the portable terminal connected to the first communication network. The portable terminal connects to the second communication network and performs the service of the second communication network by using only the minimum information for call setup, thereby reducing delay time for initiating the second service.

Abstract: A dual-mode mobile terminal and method for performing PS call between different communication networks. In the mobile terminal, a second communication module which communicates with a second communication network, prepares for its operation and enters into a low power mode when it is requested for the PS call through a first communication module communicating with a first communication network. When the mobile terminal moves from the first communication network to the second communication network, the second communication module performs an initialization for the PS call to the second communication network. When the initialization is complete, the second communication module interrupts the PS call through the first communication network and performs a packet service communication through the first communication network.

To this end, a multi-mode terminal checks the service quality of a network, and performs reconnection for a packet service by determining a current time point as a handover time point only when the service quality of the network meets a handover condition at the current time point. Therefore, the multi-mode terminal is provided with a packet service from a network which provides relatively superior quality of service.

Abstract: Provided is a method and apparatus for acquiring time information from a CDMA system in a mobile communication terminal. The method includes: searching for a CDMA channel in a predetermined manner when a CDMA modem or module is activated; receiving a sync channel signal via the searched CDMA channel and extracting time information from the sync channel signal; and setting a time of the mobile communication terminal using the extracted time information. Therefore, even when the mobile communication terminal communicates with a system that does not provide time information, the mobile communication terminal can precisely maintain its time by acquiring time information from a CDMA system.

Abstract: A method of starting an application program of a mobile terminal having a data terminating function, the method comprising the steps of: receiving a call establishment request for data termination; establishing a data call according to the call establishment request; determining the type of service specified by an application program starting message, when the application program starting message is received after the call is established; and automatically starting an application program corresponding to the determined type of service. Using this method, it is possible to automatically start an application program capable of processing data terminated to a mobile terminal which has a data terminating function.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an ISP server, a method of providing data, a method of advertising using moving pictures, and recording media therefor. In a method of providing data from the ISP server to an internet user's computer system connected through the internet, the method of advertising according to the present invention comprises the steps of (a) receiving a data reception speed of an internet user's internet connection, (b) selecting a data frame set based on the received data reception speed, and (c) transmitting the selected data frame set to the internet user's computer system. According to this method, a moving picture can be provided more efficiently during the process of receiving a prescribed service through the ISP server.
