A new video file is generated by merging video data acquired by the camera unit in real time with the selected video file based on a successive recording information. The present invention enables recording video in formats including but in no way limited to Moving Picture Experts Group 1 (MPEG-4) in continuation at the end of a previously-stored video file, allowing the user to pause and resume video recording at any time and merge the video files into a single file using a successive recording mode.
