Patent number: 8630631Abstract: Methods and devices are provided for providing caller identification information by a caller's mobile phone. When there is a request, by a caller, for an addition of a word or phrase after an input of a call recipient's phone number, a caller's mobile phone receives an input of the word or phrase from the caller. When the caller inputs a request for making an outgoing call, the caller's mobile phone generates an outgoing call message, which includes a caller's phone number, the call recipient's phone number, and an input word or phrase, and sending the generated outgoing call message to the recipient's mobile phone.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 2012Date of Patent: January 14, 2014Assignee: Samsung Electronics Co., LtdInventors: Jong-Kyu Lee, Chul-Yong Jeon

Patent number: 8301127Abstract: Provided are a method, a device, and a system for displaying at least one character for identifying a caller, together with the caller's phone number, on a recipient's mobile phone when an incoming call is received. The system includes a caller's mobile phone for allowing the caller to input a recipient's phone number and at least one character desired to be added after the phone number, generating an outgoing call message including the caller's phone number, recipient's phone number and input word or phrase for an outgoing call, and sending the generated message; a base station for receiving the outgoing call message, and changing the outgoing call message to an incoming call message which will be sent to the recipient's mobile phone; and the recipient's mobile phone for receiving the incoming call message and outputting any word or phrase included in the incoming call message.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 2008Date of Patent: October 30, 2012Assignee: Samsung Electronics Co., LtdInventors: Jong-Kyu Lee, Chul-Yong Jeon

Patent number: 7756477Abstract: Disclosed are a device and method for searching and connecting to Bluetooth devices. A Host Device restricts the Bluetooth transmit power below a preset level, so as to limit the transmission range of an HCI inquiry signal output from the Host Device. When two or more Bluetooth devices are detected within the restricted transmit range, the Host Device compares the intensities of response signals received from the Bluetooth devices, and then selects a Bluetooth device having the response signal with the greatest intensity. Next, the Host Device attempts to connect to the selected Bluetooth device and starts to provide Bluetooth services. Thus, it is possible to restrict the Bluetooth devices detected according to the restricted transmission power. Further, the Host Device can connect to the Bluetooth device located at the nearest position, thereby making it possible for a user to easily and conveniently start a Bluetooth device service.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 2007Date of Patent: July 13, 2010Assignee: Samsung Electronics Co., LtdInventor: Jong-Kyu Lee

Publication number: 20100093280Abstract: A Bluetooth® connection method and a Bluetooth module for discovering and connecting peripheral Bluetooth devices. An inquiry signal is sent with a minimum transmit power. It is determined if an inquiry response signal is received for a waiting time. A path loss corresponding to each inquiry response signal is calculated when a plurality of inquiry response signals are received for the waiting time, the calculated path losses are compared, and Bluetooth® connection is performed with a Bluetooth® device that sent an inquiry response signal having a lowest path loss.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 14, 2009Publication date: April 15, 2010Applicant: SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD.Inventors: Dong-Gyu Ahn, Jong-Kyu Lee, Hak-Ryoul Kim

Publication number: 20040165529Abstract: An overload control method of a high speed data communication system can include judging whether an access network is overloaded, determining a class of the overload and restricting an originating call and a termination call according to the determined class during the overload. Since the access terminal, which can be the lowermost terminal of the system, controls the data call origination, resources at the side of the access network can be effectively managed. In addition, the overload control can be discriminately performed according to a degree of the overload so that the overload control method can effectively cope with the overload situation.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 25, 2003Publication date: August 26, 2004Applicant: LG ELECTRONICS INC.Inventor: Jong-Kyu Lee
