    Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to aqueous cationic polyacrylamide (CPAM) dispersions, methods of preparation and methods of use thereof, particularly in the paper industry. For example, these CPAM dispersions may be used in any of the following: (i) sticky control in paper manufacturing (ii) fixing in paper manufacturing, (ii) sludge dewatering, and/or (iii) oil-water separation. Moreover, the present disclosure generally pertains to CPAM dispersions, wherein such CPAM dispersions are aqueous dispersions which are shelf stable at room temperature, methods of preparation and methods of use thereof in papermaking applications and in products such as paper-based products. The disclosed CPAM dispersions may be used as retention aids in papermaking processes, may increase retention of starch to a formed paper web and/or board web, and may provide increased dry strength to paper-based products.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing cationized cellulose. The method comprises at least preparing a slurry of a cellulosic starting material in an alkaline liquid medium which comprises an organic liquid and performing mercerization of the slurry. The concentration of the cellulosic starting material in the slurry is at least 20 weight-%, calculated as dry from total weight of the liquid medium and the cellulosic starting material. A cationizing agent is added to the slurry after the mercerization step at a cationization temperature, which is less than the boiling point of the alkaline liquid medium, and the cellulose in the slurry is allowed to react with the cationizing agent, preferably under inert atmosphere and a cationized cellulose product is obtained.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for optimising material recovery in a chemical pulping process. The method comprises treating of cellulosic raw material with cooking chemicals in a cooking step, where lignin is at least partly dissolved into cooking liquid phase and separated from fibres. The lignin is separated from the cooking liquid phase. The separated lignin is used for formation of a treatment composition comprising at the most 1 weight-% of aluminium. A bleaching liquid phase is treated with the treatment composition in order to remove organic humic substances from the bleaching liquid. Organic sludge is formed and it is used for energy production in a chemical recovery step.

The floc size distribution of the filler dispersion is changed with the pre-treatment agent, which is a natural and/or synthetic polymer, so that the mean chord length value increases at least with 2% from the original mean chord length value.
