    Abstract: Described herein are a system and methods for implementing a tool-agnostic device. In examples, the system may determine location and state information using sensors of the tool-agnostic device. Based on this information, the system may communicate with a virtual reality system for display and user interaction with a virtual reality environment. The tool-agnostic device may be removed and re-attached to a number of different tools. The tool-agnostic device allows tracking of a number of different tools without customization or retrofitting each tool. The tool-agnostic device may serve as a safety-shutoff device in addition to tracking tool use and movement. When the system determines that a tool is operating in an unsafe manner the tool-agnostic device may interrupt the power to the tool.

In embodiments a transferee device may receive a first request to obtain access rights for an electronic device associated with a transferor device. The transferor device may receive a second request to grant access rights for the electronic device. Embodiments may include receiving, at the transferee device, a device key associated with the electronic device and storing the device key in association with the electronic device. Embodiments may further include issuing a command from at least one of the transferee or transferor devices to unlock the electronic device, and causing the electronic device to comply with the command to unlock if the at least one of the transferee or transferor devices that issues the command has access to the device key when the command is issued.

The techniques may also involve identifying a set of edges stored in relation to each closest matching corresponding region for each region of an object model. Each set of edges may be conformed to the 3D data of its corresponding region. Once conformed, the sets of edges may be compiled into a cage for the object model, from which a mesh may be generated.

The system then activates a second lighting mode that causes the stochastic shape distribution to be hidden and captures images of the object as it would normally appear (without the stochastic shape distribution). The images having the stochastic shape distribution may be used to determine alignment information for the images within the set of images. That alignment information may then be attributed to the second set of images and used to generate the 3D model.
