Abstract: Provided are a digital image processing apparatus which can control the size of a display, and accordingly control a picture format, and a method of displaying an image. The digital image processing apparatus includes: a display on which a preview image of an object to be photographed or a reproduced image is displayed; a cover element configured to selectively cover a portion of the display; and an image controlling unit which outputs a signal to the display, the signal corresponding to a picture format that is determined according to an orientation of the cover element and, therefore, a size of the display that is exposed.
