Abstract: A thumbnail display method is provided, which includes receiving a selection of an XML paper specification (XPS) file, receiving a preview command for the selected XPS file, analyzing a structure of the XPS file, and displaying thumbnail information regarding a plurality of thumbnails contained in the XPS file according to the analyzed structure. Therefore, it is possible for a user to preview various thumbnails contained in an XPS file.

The printing control apparatus includes a user interface to set a printing option for a document to be printed, an extraction unit to determine whether the set printing option is a printing option for pre-processing, a generation unit to generate a setting file corresponding to the pre-processing printing option if the printing option is the pre-processing printing option, a conversion unit to convert an XPS file into an enhanced XPS file that includes the generated setting file, and a controller to transmit the enhanced XPS file to the image forming apparatus.

Abstract: A printer driver and a method of controlling the same are disclosed. If the printer driver ICC profile does not correspond to the printer ICC profile, the printer driver converts color information of an image into predetermined information using the printer ICC profile instead of the printer driver ICC profile, such that the image forming apparatus can reproduce an optimum color as close to the original color of the image. The control method for the printer driver contained in a computer connected to an image forming apparatus includes determining whether an ICC profile of the image forming apparatus corresponds to an ICC profile established in the printer driver, and if the ICC profile of the image forming apparatus does not correspond to the ICC profile established in the printer driver, converting color information of the image into predetermined information using the ICC profile of the image forming apparatus.

Abstract: A network printing system and method is disclosed. The network printing system comprises an information device linked to a network, for transmitting and receiving messages with an external device through the network, a chat server providing a messenger to the information device to transmit and receive messages between the information device and the external device through the messenger, and a printer linked to the network, for performing a print job with respect to a file which is requested printing by the information device. The chat server receives the print-requested file from the information device through the messenger and transmits the file to the printer. Accordingly, since the information device which has no printer driver installed therein can perform a print job through the network printer, the utilization of a mobile terminal is maximized.

Abstract: A method of forming a user interface using user interface information received from a printer, and a printer driver therefor. The method includes enabling the host device to issue a request for user interface information to the printer, the user interface information including a list of functions supported by the printer, receiving the user interface information from the printer, and forming a user interface using the user interface information received from the printer. Accordingly, it is possible to drive a plurality of printers by installing only one printer driver in a host device and forming a user interface based on user interface information received from each of the printers. Therefore, the user does not need to install as many printer drivers in the host device as there are printers. In addition, printer manufactures do not need to develop different printer drivers for different types of printers that they manufacture.
