Abstract: The present invention relates to a spray-dried composition comprising as an active ingredient at least one member protein of the collectin family or its functional equivalent for treating and preventing microbial infectious diseases. The present invention also relates to a method for producing the same composition. The composition produced by the method of the present invention is effective in suppressing infections caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi, and parasites. Since the composition is developed in a form suitable for inhalation, it can directly provide the active ingredient to the sites of infection from these microbes, and thus treat and prevent respiratory infections and external wounds.

Abstract: Oxidative sorbents are provided for adsorbing elemental or oxidized mercury from mercury-containing fluids such as flue gas from a coal-burning power utility or the like at a temperature range of about 50 to 350 ° C. The method of preparing and using the oxidative sorbents is also provided. The oxidative sorbent compositions include one or more silicates capable of cation exchange with a plurality of active metal cations and their counter anions. The silicates may include those selected from clays such as montmorillonite, laumonite, bentonite, Mica, vermiculite and kaolinite, and from silica gels, natural and synthetic molecular sieves, zeolites, and ashes from stoker- and pulverized coal-fired boilers. The one or more oxidative metal halides and/or sulfates may be selected from the group consisting of CuCl, CuBr, CuCl2, CuBr2, CuSO4, FeCl2, FeCl3, FeSO4, Fe2(SO4)3, ZnCl2, ZnBr2, NiCl2, and NiSO4. The oxidative sorbents may also include activated carbon.

Abstract: Provided is a new algorithm for detecting transmitter identification information (TII) in a transceiver system such as terrestrial-digital multimedia broadcasting (TDMB) conforming to the Eureka 147 standard. A TII decoder includes: a magnitude obtainer for monitoring a magnitude of an input signal; a phase obtainer for monitoring a phase of the input signal; a TII pulse determiner for determining whether a TII pulse is input or not, from the magnitude signal and phase signal; and a consistency checker for checking whether delay times of a plurality of TII pulses are identical and whether a TII pattern consisting of the TII pulses is repeated.

The context knowledge modeling method includes the steps of: a) defining a context knowledge space as a two-dimensional space based on an abstract level and an application domain of knowledge; b) locating a share ontology as a highest level of the abstract level for defining a common ontology concept at a plurality of applications and services performed in various environment and domains; c) locating at least one of domain ontologies as a lower abstract level than the share ontology by taking over the ontology concept defined at the share ontology and defining a class and an attribute specialized at a corresponding domain and a developing application; and d) locating one or more instance bases expressing knowledge about real objects to have a lower abstract level than the domain ontologies.

Abstract: Terminal and method for transporting a still picture uses a moving picture terminal after extraction of a frame unit of still pictures, for example, from a moving picture. The extracted still picture frames can be encoded in a fixed quantizing value and stored before transmission, or the stored frame unit still pictures can be encoded in a fixed quantizing value using an overflow control technique or circuit. Further, the extracted still picture frame unit can be repeatedly sent using a varied quantizing value before transmission. Thus, the terminal and method for transporting a still picture permits transmission/reception of the still picture at a higher resolution than a moving picture regardless of time and place to enhance use of the moving picture terminal.

Abstract: Embodiments of a computer system and methods for changing operating systems (OSs) can perform a task switching into a different OS without checking a system reset or power off of the system. A method for changing the OS in a multi-OS system can include initializing, at the BIOS, a hardware and dividing an area on the main memory for a booting initiated by an instant-on key/signal; turning over a system control to the embedded OS after loading an embedded OS on a specific area of the divided main memory and booting the same, and operating an instant-on player (IOP). When the IOP is terminated by a user, forcibly loading the normal OS on the main memory. The normal OS can be loaded in a hidden state before termination of the IOP. Thus, a time to reach normal computer system operations from an instant-on-function can be reduced.
