Abstract: An apparatus for rotatably connecting an actuator in a hard disk drive includes a housing coupled to a base of the hard disk drive and having an aperture for enabling rotation of the actuator. A pivot is positioned within the housing and provides a recess for connecting the actuator to the pivot. A lower ball bearing assembly positioned between the housing and the pivot includes: a lower outer wheel, a lower inner wheel and a first ball positioned between the lower outer wheel and the lower inner wheel. An upper ball bearing assembly positioned between the housing and the pivot at a spaced apart location from the lower ball bearing assembly includes: an upper outer wheel, an upper inner wheel and a second ball positioned between the upper outer wheel and the upper inner wheel.

Abstract: A novel fabricating technique for a hard disk driver is constructed with mounting a bottom plate onto a base having nuts integrally embedded therein by screwing fixing screws into the nuts via the corresponding tapped holes formed in the bottom plate so as to produce a first structure, surface treating the first structure, mounting a top plate having a pair of legs at opposite end portions bent in a L-shape onto the bottom plate by screwing fixing screws into the nuts via respective holes of the legs and corresponding tapped holes formed in the bottom plate so as to produce a second structure, and surface treating the second structure. Surface treatment of the first and second structures are performed using an electrodeposit coating process so that dust particles accumulated during fabrication can be easily eliminated and static friction between recording head and recording medium embodied therein can be prevented.

Abstract: An actuator device of a hard disk drive for reducing a disturbance affecting an actuator. The actuator device has a guide unit connected or attached to an actuator arm for reducing a disturbance affecting the actuator, caused by an air flow generated from a surface of the disk during disk rotation. The guide unit maintains a laminar flow of air between the disk and the actuator arm as the disk is rotated by a spindle of the hard disk drive.

Abstract: A device and method for fastening a voice coil motor of a hard disk drive reduces the space occupied when the voice coil motor is fastened to the hard disk drive. The device is characterized by fastening a bottom plate to a base with an adhesive material, setting the bottom plate to a bottom magnet with the adhesive material, placing a top plate adjacent to the outside edges of the bottom plate, placing a top magnet to a lower side of the top plate with the adhesive material, placing a bobbin of an actuator between the bottom magnet and the top magnet by keeping a given distance, and fastening a cover to an upper side of the top plate with the adhesive material.
