  • Publication number: 20040002334
Abstract: A method of performing an inter-RAT measurement for a handover from NB-TDD to GSM is provided. A UE, as it moves from an NB-TDD Node B to a GSM cell, receives a measurement control message from the NB-TDD Node B. The UE then measures the strength of a signal received from the GSM cell and verifies its identification for a predetermined measuring time. If the UE successfully verifies the identification of the GSM cell for the measuring time, it reports the signal strength measurement and the verified GSM cell identification to the NB-TDD Node B. If the UE fails to verify the identification of the GSM cell for the measuring time, it reports only the signal strength measurement to the NB-TDD Node B.

  • Publication number: 20030232622
Abstract: A radio network controller (RNC) transmits a power offset for controlling transmission power of an uplink high-speed dedicated physical control channel (HS-DPCCH) when a user equipment (UE) enters a handover region, in a mobile communication system including the RNC, a Node B connected to the RNC, and the UE located in one of at least two cell areas occupied by the Node B. The Node B transmits data to the UE over a high-speed downlink shared channel (HS-DSCH) and the UE transmits information indicating reception of the data to the Node B over the uplink HS-DPCCH. The RNC informs the UE of a power offset for determining a transmission power increment of the uplink HS-DPCCH, if it is determined that the UE is located in the handover region. The RNC informs the Node B of the power offset so that the Node B can determine a threshold value for determining information indicating reception of the data, depending on the power offset.

  • Publication number: 20030231612
Abstract: An apparatus and method determines soft handover in a CDMA mobile communication system supporting an MBMS service. In the CDMA mobile communication system supporting an MBMS service, when a UE moves to a region where it can receive data from a plurality of Node Bs, the UE determines by itself whether to perform soft combining on MBMS data received from the Node Bs. Therefore, even though an MBMS user moves from an existing cell to a new cell, the MBMS service is stably provided, contributing to the convenience of the user.

  • Publication number: 20030174678
Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing multimedia broadcast and multicast services in a CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) mobile communication system. The apparatus and method enable a common MBMC (Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Control) layer to be allocated between a plurality of cells, enable MBMC layers to be classified on the basis of types of services, and use the classified MBMC layers. That is, individual MBMC layers do not have to store large-capacity data because a unique service or transmission rate in each of cells is based on a slow rate, and the individual MBMC layers corresponding to respective cells process a service requiring complex scheduling. Moreover, the apparatus and method enable the same information to be provided to a plurality of cells and enable a streaming-type service to be processed in a common MBMC layer commonly used in the cells.

  • Publication number: 20030002470
Abstract: A method of adjusting the transmission time of data in a CDMA communication system. A UE (User Equipment) measures the time difference between the received time of a downlink DPCH (Dedicated Physical Channel) and the transmitted time of an uplink DPCH and reports it to an RNC (Radio Network Controller). The RNC transmits transmission time adjustment information to a node B and the UE if the time difference is out of a predetermined range. The node B then adjusts the transmission time of the downlink DPCH according to the transmission time adjustment information and transmits the downlink DPCH at the adjusted time. The UE receives the downlink DPCH by adjusting a search time for the downlink DPCH according to the transmission time adjustment information.
