  • Patent number: 9325262
Abstract: A motor system includes a motor including two linear Hall sensors configured to output analog signals, and a controller configured to control the motor. The controller is operable to monitor the analog signals output from the two linear Hall sensors, determine a plurality of auxiliary signals based on the analog signals, and determine a motor position based on the plurality of auxiliary signals.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: April 26, 2016
    Assignee: Woodward, Inc.

  • Patent number: 7292954
Abstract: Aspects of the present invention are directed to systems, methods, and computer-readable media for measuring certain actuator system parameters of an actuator, e.g., an EMA in its working environment. Stiction and backlash are examples of such parameters, and these indicate the impending failure of an actuator system than conventional approaches of measuring the elapsed time of operation. When the measured backlash and/or stiction parameters exhibit a deleterious increase over time, e.g., by exceeding a preset threshold, imminent failure or the need for service/repair of the system is indicated.

  • Patent number: 7283934
Abstract: An improved technique of acceptance testing an actuator system involves measuring system parameters of the actuator system during operation of the actuator system, and storing the measured system parameters in computerized memory as a set of measured system parameters. The technique further involves obtaining a set of predetermined thresholds. Each predetermined threshold corresponds to a particular measured system parameter. The technique further involves electronically indicating whether the actuator system is in acceptable condition based on an electronic comparison of the set of measured system parameters stored in the computerized memory and the set of predetermined thresholds, e.g., providing a warning of a need for service or of imminent failure when one or more of the system parameters exceeds a corresponding threshold.

  • Patent number: 5460494
Abstract: A scroll compressor comprises a stationary scroll and an orbiting scroll driven by a shaft. The shaft has an eccentric pin disposed in a slot of a bushing which is mounted in the orbiting scroll. A weight is mounted for rotation with the shaft for generating a centrifugal force which is transmitted to the orbiting scroll to counterbalance a centrifugal force generated by the orbiting scroll, and thereby reduce the pressure with which the orbiting scroll bears against the stationary scroll. The weight is movable radially with respect to both the bushing and the shaft, and a spring is radially interposed between the weight and the bushing for transmitting force therebetween.

  • Patent number: 5181117
Abstract: The invention provides an automatic contrast controller of a video camera including: a pedestal level sample-and-hold circuit for the video signal clamped to the pedestal level by the clamping pulse, a signal below reference level detecting circuit to remove the unnecessary signal by blanking so as to detect the only signal below the reference level, a lowest value detecting circuit to detect the lowest value of the average image signal detecting circuit for signal detecting average image signal and the clamped video signal, a comparing circuit to compare the output of the lowest value detecting circuit with the average signal level for amplification, and an amplifying circuit of variable gain to vary the gain of the signal below reference level detecting circuit, thereby setting the lowest signal level up to the specified level by the pedestal level and average level.
