  • Publication number: 20230409638
Abstract: Observable data points are collected and organized into a link-oriented data set comprising nodes and links. Information is abstracted for use in link analysis by generating links between the collected data points, including deriving links and inducing links. A link can be induced by linking together a pair of nodes that satisfy a distance function. Exemplary distance functions that can be used to induce links include geospatial proximity, attribute nearness, and name similarity. Paths can be identified between selected nodes of interest through a dataset operation, and nodes and/or links can be selectively included or excluded from the data set operation. The dataset can be augmented with pedigree information or one or more association nodes. Link information, including a trajectory and a connected path that selectively produces or excludes one or more intermediate nodes, can be displayed and/or produced in a specified format.

  • Patent number: 10871884
Abstract: Systems and methods related to detecting characteristics of images and accentuating or manipulating characteristics of images are described. For example, a principal color of an image may be identified, a complement color may be determined based on the principal color, and the complement color may be applied to the image to accentuate the image. In this manner, an object of interest represented in the image may be emphasized and displayed in a more visually attractive manner. In addition, edges of an image may be evaluated to determine if one or more visibly cropped edges are present within the image, the image may be further cropped to remove the visibly cropped edges, and/or the image may be shifted or magnified based on such cropped edges. In this manner, an object of interest represented in the image may be magnified and emphasized, and visually distracting elements may be removed from the image.

  • Patent number: 10545640
Abstract: Electronic content such as an electronic book (e-book) that is referenced in or otherwise related to other content such as website content is identified, and a visual representation of the electronic content is generated. The visual representation is presented in conjunction with the website content, and a reader application for previewing the electronic content is launched via user interaction with the visual representation. Exiting the reader application causes a browser application that is rendering the website content to be automatically returned to a foreground state. A variety of actions are enabled via interaction with the reader application such as purchasing the electronic content, sharing the electronic content, or downloading a sample preview of the electronic content for later consumption.

  • Patent number: 10417933
Abstract: Techniques are provided for selectively and dynamically determining one or more words of an electronic book to present with comprehension guides. For instance, an electronic device rendering an electronic book may determine whether to display some, all, or no words of the book with comprehension guides for words within the electronic book based on word difficulty, contextual importance or aspects of the user. Techniques are also provided for determining the content of comprehension guides to be presented with the words.
