Abstract: A system and method for providing multimedia portal contents in a communication system. The method provides a ring-back tone to a calling terminal, the calling terminal sets first multimedia portal contents to be provided as the ring-back tone in consideration of given information of a calling terminal user. A called terminal sets second multimedia portal contents to provide as the ring-back tone in consideration of the given information of the calling terminal user, and the calling and called terminals transmit call connection setup related signals including set information. A first server receives the call connection setup-related signals and provides specific multimedia portal contents as the ring-back tone when the calling and called terminals set the multimedia portal contents, and provides the determined multimedia portal contents to the calling terminal.

Abstract: A method and system for processing a message in an Internet protocol-based mobile communication system supporting a multimedia service. In the system, application servers include a representative application server and multiple backend application servers. A method for defining a control message between application servers to set up a session using the standard Internet protocol is provided. When an application server performs a call processing operation, control message processing load and control message transmission delay is reduced.

Abstract: Quality of Service (QoS) is provided based on a priority of a terminal in a communication system. A communication server receives Session Description Protocol (SDP) information and priority information of each of first and second terminals, and transmits, to a Policy Decision Function block (PDF), the SDP information of each of first and second terminals and priority information corresponding to a highest priority in the priority information of the first and second terminals. The PDF performs authentication based on QoS profile information of the first and second terminals acquired from a service profile server upon request for SDP information of each of the terminals, generates a QoS decision value based on the authentication results, and reserves resources that the first terminal will use to perform a communication service with the second terminal, using the QoS decision value. The PDF upgrades the QoS decision value based on the highest-priority information.

Abstract: An interworking of a wireless network and a wireline network is provided. A call setup method of a network apparatus in an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network includes setting a call between a first terminal of a first IMS network and a second terminal of a second IMS network; determining whether a protocol conversion is needed between the first terminal and the second terminal in the setting operation; and performing the protocol conversion when the protocol conversion is needed.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for providing other Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services (e.g., Skype, Google talk, and the like) using a terminal which supports an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network are provided. The apparatus includes an interworking apparatus for converting information received from a VoIP service network to information supportable by an IMS terminal to interwork the IMS terminal and other VoIP services not supported by the IMS terminal, and converting information received from the IMS terminal to information supportable by a VoIP service network.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for interworking between an Internet Protocol (IP) Multimedia Core Network Subsystem (IMS) network that provides an IP multimedia service to at least one first terminal, and an H.323 network that provides a packet switched multimedia service to at least one second terminal. In the system and method, upon receiving an invite message from the first terminal, a Call Session Control Function (CSCF) determines whether the second terminal is a terminal serviceable via the H.323 network through a query with a Domain Name Server (DNS). If the second terminal is a terminal serviceable via the H.323 network, the CSCF transmits an invite message including codec information of the first terminal to an interworking function (IWF), and sends a request for a transcoding service to a transcoding unit upon receiving from the IWF a response message including a codec list supportable by the H.323 network.

Abstract: A service triggering system and method for performing service triggering in an Internet protocol (IP) multimedia subsystem based on any message upon a call setup request in an IMS network are provided, in which a call session control function (CSCF) processes service triggering based on all messages, to which filter criteria (FC) information required for the service triggering is applied, upon a call setup, a home subscriber server (HSS) provides the filter criteria to the call session control function upon registration of a subscriber, an application server performs a call processing for providing a transcoding service, when an originating user equipment and a terminating user equipment use different codecs, and a media resource function performs a transcoding operation in accordance with different codecs between the originating user equipment and the terminating user equipment.
