Abstract: Disclosed is a method for performing a handover in a communication system, comprising causing the MS to receive a ranging code including the information on a handover bandwidth request ranging code from a serving BS, the handover bandwidth request ranging code being used for the MS to get an uplink bandwidth required for the handover allocated by the serving BS in a contention-free scheme, and causing the MS to request the serving BS to allocate the uplink bandwidth for the handover by using the handover bandwidth request ranging code.

Abstract: A handover apparatus and method for a multi-hop system in a BWA communication network are provided. In a handover system supporting multi-hop system in a BWA communication network, a BS periodically broadcasts a message with neighboring BS/RS information. When a new BS or RS needs to be added, an RS periodically broadcasts the broadcast message received from the BS with information about the new BS or RS. An MS receives the broadcast message from the RS and requests information about BSs or RSs to which the MS can perform a handover by notifying candidate BSs or RSs for the handover. The candidate BSs or RSs may include a BS or RS not included in the broadcast message, if the MS detects the BS or RS by scanning. The MS selects a target BS or RS based on the BS or RS information received from the BS, and performs the handover to the target BS or RS.

Abstract: Integrated circuits are disclosed wherein selection circuits are located at opposing ends of an undivided memory cell array. Locating the selection circuits at opposing ends of the memory cell array may reduce the difference in propagation time needed by different signals to travel to and from amplifiers in the integrated circuit. For example, if two signals are electrically connected to pins located on different parts of the integrated circuit, timing skew between the two signals may be reduced by locating the respective selection circuits so as to reduce the difference in respective distances traveled by the two signals.
