Abstract: A user interface for a printer has a display, an input system and a control unit. The control unit is configured to present a plurality of operating screens on the display in accordance with navigation instructions input via the input system. One complete operating screen is presented at one time. The control unit is configured to assign a fixed location on a two-dimensional manifold to each operating screen, and, upon a navigation instruction, to animate a movement of the manifold relative to the display, so as to show the selected operating screen on the display.

Abstract: A system for monitoring a stock of consumable material includes an image forming apparatus having an identifying unit that identifies a consumable material item inserted therein, a stock monitoring module, a counting device that derives usage data relating to consumable material in the stock and a memory. A method for monitoring a stock of consumable material in the system includes identifying a consumable material item inserted in the image forming apparatus, sending the identity of the item to the stock monitoring module, creating a distinct entry for said item in the memory upon reception for the first time by the stock monitoring module of the identity of the item and deriving usage data relating to said item.

Abstract: A user interface enables a visually impaired person to operate a multifunctional system. The user interface includes a plurality of tactile selection elements that enable selection of options, a tactile guiding structure that enables leading of an object to the tactile selection elements, and an audible assisting device that reads out a plurality of phrases, each one of the phrases identifying a selectable option during operation of the multifunctional system. Tactile query elements are provided along the tactile guiding structure, each one of the tactile query elements being arranged upstream from a corresponding group of tactile selection elements, the activation of each tactile query element causing the audible assisting device to read out a plurality of phrases each identifying a selectable option from the group.

Abstract: The invention relates to a data-storage system (100, 200) comprising a processor means (110, 260) for obtaining identifier data of media content existing in the system, the identifier data being used for identifying the media content, and a memory (120, 265) for retaining the identifier data after the media content is absent from the system, a retrieval means being arranged to allow retrieval of the media content using the identifier data. The system, for example, a video camera retains the identifier data after the media content has been deleted or removed from the system. The identifier data may accumulate in the system independently of the media content, while the media content may still be retrieved.
