  • Patent number: 9663336
Abstract: A chain and cable handling winch system including a winch, a cable drum, a chain wheel, and a chain wheel lock assembly is provided. The chain wheel lock assembly releasable secures the chain wheel in a working position on a winch axle end. An interface body is mounted on the winch axle end such that it rotates with the axle. When the chain wheel is in its working position, slots and/or ribs of the chain wheel interlock with corresponding ribs and/or slots of the interface body, such that a torque load is transferred from the chain wheel to the winch axle via the interface body. The winch system further includes a chain wheel manipulator adapted to the exchange chain wheel mounted on the winch axle for another chain wheel.

  • Publication number: 20150321890
Abstract: The invention relates to a chain and cable handling winch system (1) comprising a winch, a cable drum (3), a chain wheel (4), and a chain wheel lock assembly (6). The chain wheel lock assembly releasably secures the chain wheel in a working position on a winch axle end (2). In an embodiment, an interface body is mounted on the winch axle end such that it rotates with the axle. When the chain wheel is in its working position slots and/or ribs of the chain wheel interlock with corresponding ribs and/or slots (8) of the interface body, such that a torque load is transferred from the chain wheel to the winch axle via the interface body. In an alternative embodiment the winch system comprises a chain wheel manipulator (54) adapted to the exchange chain wheel mounted on the winch axle for another chain wheel.

  • Patent number: 8973901
Abstract: A double drum traction winch supporting a first and second rotatable drum is provided. The circumferential surface of each drum is provided with circumferential grooves perpendicular to the rotational axis of the drum. The grooves of each drum are subdivided in a first set of grooves for guiding a first wire and a second set of grooves for guiding a second wire. The grooves of the first set alternate with grooves of the second set such that the circumferential surface of each drum is provided with multiple grooves of the first group, each interpositioned between two grooves of the second group. Therefore the traction winch is capable of cooperating with a first wire in the first set of grooves or with a second wire in the second set of grooves, wherein both wires differ in type of material and/or cross section and/or maximum tensile strength.
